Youtubemp4.to Virus

What is youtubemp4[.]to?
The youtubemp4[.]to website can be used to download videos from YouTube by pasting a video link. The website itself is not malicious or harmful, however, it often causes redirects to other untrustworthy sites (it is used to promote dubious web pages). Another reason to avoid youtubemp4[.]to is that downloading videos from YouTube is illegal.
Once visited, youtubemp4[.]to displays a pop-up window asking visitors to allow it to show notifications. Note that allowing websites to show notifications (especially if the sites are dubious) is not advisable. These notifications often include various pop-up ads (or other pop-ups) that, if clicked, lead to potentially malicious websites.
When clicked, many ads of this type run scripts designed to download and install potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). When used to download videos, this website often causes redirects to other untrustworthy web pages, which might be malicious, filled with deceptive ads, and so on. Research shows that youtubemp4[.]to also causes redirects to scam websites.
Typically, these sites display various fake errors, virus alerts, and other warnings that should not be trusted. The main purpose of these scams is to trick people into downloading and installing PUAs. They are sometimes encouraged to purchase PUAs or pay for 'online services' provided by scammers.
Furthermore, pages opened by youtubemp4[.]to might be used to promote browser hijackers, adware-type apps, and other unwanted apps. For these reasons, we recommend that you avoid youtubemp4[.]to and its video downloading service.

The internet is full of websites similar to youtubemp4[.]to. Some other examples are y2mate[.]com, youtubnow[.]com, and savefrom[.]net.
Typically, they are monetized using various advertising networks. It is difficult to avoid being redirected to dubious websites when using these networks. Furthermore, redirects to these sites can lead to unwanted installations, ads, and so on. We recommend that you avoid using websites of this type.
How did adware install on my computer?
These applications are usually downloaded and installed when software developers use a deceptive marketing method "bundling" to trick people. This enables them to force people into unwanted download and installation of PUAs together with regular software. Developers hide bundled apps in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings/options of software set-ups.
Furthermore, users who skip software download and installation steps, without carefully studying them first, can unintentionally allow unwanted apps to be downloaded and installed. Clicking deceptive (intrusive) advertisements can also cause this situation.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To avoid having unwanted applications installed, download and install all software properly. Do not download from unofficial, dubious websites, using torrent clients, eMule (other Peer-to-Peer networks), or other third party downloaders/installers. The best way to download is using official websites and direct links. Furthermore, inspect all software set-ups.
Check "Custom", "Advanced" settings, and deselect offers to download/install potentially unwanted apps. Ads displayed on dubious web pages (relating to adult dating, pornography, gambling, and so on) usually redirect to other untrustworthy, potentially malicious websites.
If you encounter redirects to untrustworthy or suspicious websites, or unwanted ads, ensure that there are no unwanted/unknown applications (such as plug-ins, extensions, or add-ons) installed on the default browser. Uninstall unwanted entries immediately.
The same applies to programs of this type installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
