Googlo.co POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is googlo.co?
googlo.co is a rogue site identical to hotchedmothe.club, cliksource.cool, and many others. This site redirects users to other dubious websites. Generally, users visit googlo.co inadvertently - they are redirected by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) or intrusive ads displayed on other rogue sites.
Research shows that potentially unwanted applications usually infiltrate systems without permission and, as well as causing redirects, deliver intrusive advertisements and gather sensitive data.
Immediately after infiltration, potentially unwanted applications open new browsing tabs/windows and redirect users to googlo.co, which (depending on the user's location) redirects to other dubious sites. There is a high probability that users will encounter malicious content on these sites. Thus, redirects to and from googlo.co can lead to various system infections.
With regard to redirects, potentially unwanted apps deliver advertisements (coupons, banners, pop-ups, etc.) that might also redirect to infectious sites or even execute scripts that download/install other PUAs or even high-risk malware. Therefore, even a single accidental click can result in high-risk computer infections.
Intrusive ads are delivered using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Most conceal underlying content, thereby significantly diminishing the browsing experience. Potentially unwanted applications are also notorious for information tracking.
They typically record IP addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, keystrokes, and other similar data. They might also record personal details that developers later share with third parties to generate revenue. These people (potentially, cyber criminals) misuse private data to generate further revenue.
Therefore, the presence of data-tracking apps can lead to privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to eliminate all potentially unwanted applications immediately.

There are hundreds of potentially unwanted applications, all of which are virtually identical. By offering "useful features", they attempt to give the impression of legitimacy, however, few of these programs provide the features promised.
PUAs cause unwanted redirects, gather information, and deliver intrusive advertisements, thereby diminishing the browsing experience and posing a direct threat to your privacy and web browsing safety.
How did adware install on my computer?
Some PUAs have official download websites, however, due to the lack of knowledge of these threats and the careless behavior of many users, most infiltrate systems without permission. Developers proliferate unwanted apps using "bundling" and intrusive advertising methods. "Bundling" is essentially stealth installation of third party applications with regular software.
They hide "bundled" apps within "Custom/Advanced" settings or other sections of the download/installation processes. Furthermore, many users often rush these procedures and skip steps. In addition, some users hastily click "Flashing" ads without understanding the possible consequences.
This behavior often leads to inadvertent installation of unwanted apps. In this way, users expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent this situation, be very cautious when downloading/installing software and browsing the internet. Select "Custom/Advanced" settings and carefully analyze each window of the download/installation dialogs. In doing so, opt-out of all additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them.
Avoid using third party downloaders/installers, since these tools are often monetized using the "bundling" method. Download apps from official sources only, using direct download links. Bear in mind that intrusive advertisements typically seem legitimate, but once clicked, redirect to dubious websites (such as gambling, adult dating, pornography, and similar).
If you encounter these ads/redirects, immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins. The key to computer safety is caution. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
