What is newerannews[.]com?
newerannews[.]com is one of many rogue websites available online and virtually identical to other examples such as istric.com, servedbytrackingdesk.com, and maroopush.com. Note that newerannews[.]com causes redirects to other dubious/untrustworthy web pages.
Typically, users arrive at this site inadvertently - they are redirected to it by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) that users often install inadvertently. These apps deliver intrusive advertisements and collect data.
Once installed, PUAs often force browsers to open new tabs/windows and redirect users to newerannews[.]com, which then redirects them to other (about two or three) untrustworthy websites that might be malicious. Therefore, redirects to and from newerannews[.]com might cause computer infections.
Furthermore, potentially unwanted apps deliver banners, surveys, pop-ups, coupons, and other advertisements. Typically, these are displayed though tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any visited website. They often conceal underlying content of any site, which can be annoying, and they often redirect users to malicious (or untrustworthy) websites.
Thus, clicking ads displayed by PUAs might also cause computer infections. Note that unwanted apps collect browsing-related data. Typically, the list of collected data types includes IP addresses, keystrokes, search queries, URLs of visited websites pages, lists of viewed pages, and so on.
Some of the gathered data will contain personal information that PUAs developers share with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue. Thus, having data tracking apps installed can result in privacy/browsing safety issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to uninstall/remove all unwanted apps immediately.

PUAs developers promote these apps as being 'legitimate and useful' by offering to tools or features, however, these are attempts to trick people into downloading/installing apps that generate revenue for their developers. PUAs provide none of the functionality promised and often cause problems.
How did adware install on my computer?
Some potentially unwanted apps are promoted using official websites, however, users more commonly install them when they click deceptive advertisements or when software developers trick them into downloading/installing PUAs using "bundling", a deceptive marketing method used to trick people into installing unwanted apps together with other software by hiding additional software in various settings ("Custom", "Advanced", etc.) of the installation set-ups.
Information the bundling of these apps within set-ups is not properly disclosed, however, these inadvertent installations usually occur when users skip installation steps and leave available settings unchanged.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download software using official sources and direct links only. Avoid using third party software downloaders and installers. These tools are monetized by promoting potentially unwanted apps. Install software with care. Do not skip installation steps. Analyze each window of the download/installation dialogs by checking "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings/options.
Deselect offers to install additional apps and only then finish the installation. If you encounter advertisements that lead you to untrustworthy websites (adult dating, gambling, pornography, etc.), check for recent additions in the list of installed add-ons, extensions, and plug-ins on your browser and programs on your computer.
Uninstall any unknown/suspicious apps or programs immediately. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
