Ylx-4.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is ylx-4.com?
ylx-4.com is a rogue website designed to cause redirects to various other untrustworthy sites. It is similar or identical to other websites of this type, including veirregnant.club, smallentesa.club, shlega.com, and many more. Users often arrive at ylx-4.com inadvertently, since potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) force redirects to this site.
PUAs are commonly installed without users' consent and, in addition to enforcing redirects to untrustworthy websites, deliver intrusive ads and collect user-system information.
Following infiltration, potentially unwanted applications open new tabs/windows in browsers and force users to visit the ylx-4.com rogue website, which then causes additional (about 2-3) redirects to other potentially malicious/untrustworthy websites. It is possible that one of these websites will contain malicious content and cause high-risk computer infections.
Furthermore, many PUAs collect data and share it with third parties (potentially cyber criminals). Recorded data typically includes IP addresses, geo-locations, keystrokes, search queries, visited websites, and so on. There is a high probability that some of the data will also contain personal or sensitive information.
Developers sell this data to generate revenue. If the collected data falls into the wrong hands (cyber criminals), users might experience privacy issues or even have their identities stolen. Furthermore, PUAs tend to deliver intrusive adssuch as coupons, banners, surveys, and so on.
These conceal underlying content of any visited website. Furthermore, they could redirect to untrustworthy websites or execute scripts that download and install other potentially unwanted applications. We strongly recommend that you uninstall all PUAs immediately.

Most potentially unwanted applications share common purposes - to generate revenue by delivering intrusive advertisements, gather information, and cause redirects. Developers successfully trick users into downloading them by offering "useful" features, however, few PUAs provide the features promised or deliver any real value for regular users.
How did adware install on my computer?
Research shows that many PUAs can be downloaded from official websites, however, most are installed through clicked intrusive ads (mentioned earlier) or when they are 'bundled' with regular software. Bundling is a deceptive marketing method to install potentially unwanted applications such as this one with other regular software in a stealthy way.
These installations are often not properly disclosed - dubious software developers tend to hide potentially unwanted applications in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar options of the installation processes. PUAs can be sometimes also be installed when third party installers or downloaders are used. In most cases, however, users install PUAs by rushing installation steps or clicking intrusive ads.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download software from trustworthy and official sources. Avoid using third party software downloaders and torrents. Check "Advanced", "Custom" and other sections/settings of the installation process. Do not skip installation steps or finish without first deselecting unwanted offers.
Bear in mind that malicious (or other untrustworthy) ads may seem legitimate, but once clicked, will redirect you to untrustworthy websites (such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, etc.).
If you accidentally clicked one of these ads, close the opened tab or window and check for new/unwanted plug-ins, add-ons, and extensions installed on your browser, or suspicious programs installed on your computer. If you find any potentially unwanted applications, uninstall them immediately.
If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
