HolidayPhotoEdit Toolbar

What is hp.myway.com?
holidayPhotoEdit is a deceptive application that falsely claims to allow easy editing of photos. This application may seem legitimate and useful, however, it is categorized as a potentially unwanted application (PUA) and a browser hijacker.
There are two main reasons for these negative associations: 1) stealth installation without users' consent, and; 2) tracking of web browsing activity.
This browser hijacker promotes the hp.myway.com fake search engine. It targets Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. Following infiltration, HolidayPhotoEdit assigns the new tab URL, default search engine, and homepage options to hp.myway.com.
These changes may seem insignificant, and yet users are unable to revert them - holidayPhotoEdit reassign browser options when attempts are made to change them.
Therefore, unless this browser hijacker is uninstalled, returning browsers to their previous settings is impossible and users are forced to visit hp.myway.com when they search via the URL bar or simply open a new browser tab. These redirects significantly diminish the browsing experience.
In addition, although HolidayPhotoEdit is not confirmed to gather information, many browser hijackers perform this function. These apps typically record information such as IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and so on.
Furthermore, the information typically includes personal details that developers share with third parties. Therefore, the presence of a data-tracking apps can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. In any case, you should eliminate HolidayPhotoEdit PUA immediately.

HolidayPhotoEdit developers (Mindspark Interactive Network a.k.a. IAC Applications) have released dozens of other identical browser-hijacking applications (e.g., FromDocToPDF, RecipeHub, and BabyNameReady). Although these applications offer different functionality, their behavior is identical - all modify browser options.
HolidayPhotoEdit and other Mindspark Interactive Network products are designed only to generate revenue for the developers, and thus deliver no real value for regular users.
These apps cause unwanted redirects. In addition, some fake search engines generate misleading results and intrusive advertisements, most of which lead to dubious websites. Therefore, using fake search engines cab lead to various computer infections.
How did HolidayPhotoEdit install on my computer?
HolidayPhotoEdit is free for anyone to download on its official website, however, due to the lack of knowledge and careless behavior of many users, this potentially unwanted application typically infiltrates systems without permission - developers proliferate it using the "bundling" method (stealth installation of third party apps together with regular software/apps).
Developers do not disclose installation of potentially unwanted applications properly and they are often concealed within various sections (usually "Custom" or "Advanced" settings) of the download/installation processes. Furthermore, many users often rush these procedures and skip steps.
This behavior often leads to inadvertent installation of PUAs - users expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The key to computer safety is caution. Therefore, pay close attention when browsing the Internet and downloading/installing software. Carefully analyze each step of the download/installation processes and opt-out additionally-included programs.
Download your applications from official sources only, using direct download links, since third party downloaders/installers often include rogue apps (these tools should never be used). Potentially unwanted applications are often distributed using intrusive ads that redirect to dubious websites and run scripts that download and install PUAs or even high-risk malware.
These ads may seem legitimate, but redirect to dubious websites. Most are delivered by adware-type programs. If you experience suspicious redirects, remove dubious applications and browser extensions.
If your computer is already infected with HolidayPhotoEdit, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
