YeaDesktop Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is YeaDesktop?
YeaDesktop is a rogue application that typically infiltrates systems without users' consent. Furthermore, it generates intrusive advertisements and collects sensitive information. For these reasons, YeaDesktop is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted application (PUA).
YeaDesktop delivers coupon, banner, pop-up, and other similar advertisements. To achieve this, developers employ various tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, ads often conceal underlying content, thereby significantly diminishing the browsing experience.
Furthermore, they might redirect to malicious websites and execute scripts designed to download and install other potentially unwanted applications or even malware. Therefore, even a single accidental click can result in high-risk computer infections. This deceptive application records data relating to browsing activity.
IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other collected information is likely to contain personal details that developers share with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse private data to generate revenue.
Therefore, the presence of an information-tracking app such as YeaDesktop might lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly recommend that you eliminate YeaDesktop adware immediately.

There are dozens of adware-type applications that share similarities with YeaDesktop. The list of examples includes (but is not limited to) Instagram2go, HidenGate, Amazon Shopping Assistance, Smart Application Controller, and many others.
They offer "useful functionality", however, programs such as YeaDesktop are designed only to generate revenue for the developers and deliver no real value for regular users. Potentially unwanted applications deliver intrusive advertisements and record sensitive data, thereby posing a significant threat to your privacy and browsing safety.
How did YeaDesktop install on my computer?
As mentioned above, YeaDesktop often infiltrates systems without permission, since developers proliferate it using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" and the aforementioned intrusive advertisements. "Bundling" is essentially stealth installation of potentially unwanted applications with regular software.
Developers do not disclose this information properly and hide "bundled" apps within "Custom/Advanced" settings (or other sections) of the download/installation processes.
Furthermore, many users often rush these procedures and skip steps. In addition, they click various ads without understanding the possible consequences. This exposes systems to risk of various infections and compromises users' privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The main reasons for computer infections are poor knowledge and careless behavior. The key to safety is caution. Therefore, pay close attention when browsing the Internet and downloading/installing software. Remember that intrusive advertisements typically seem legitimate, but once clicked, redirect to dubious websites (gambling, adult dating, pornography, and so on).
If you continually encounter these redirects, eliminate all suspicious programs and browser plug-ins. Furthermore, carefully analyze each window of the download/installation dialogs and opt-out additionally-included programs. Software should be downloaded from official sources only, using direct download links.
If your computer is already infected with YeaDesktop, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
