Igkxr.biz POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is igkxr.biz?
igkxr.biz is one of many rogue websites available. Some examples of identical (or very similar) websites include click.new-posts.support, adxfactory.com, and yourmobile2018.com. This website triggers redirects to various other untrustworthy/potentially malicious sites.
Most users visit igkxr.biz inadvertently - they are redirected by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that are usually installed inadvertently or without permission. In addition to unwanted redirects, PUPs gather user-system information, deliver intrusive ads and, in some cases, misuse system resources.
When installed, potentially unwanted programs force browsers to open new tabs or windows and redirect users to igkxr.biz. From here, users are redirected to other (typically two or three) untrustworthy or potentially malicious websites. There is a strong possibility that one of these visited websites will contain malicious content and cause high-risk computer infections.
Furthermore, PUPs gather user-system information such as visited websites, IP addresses, search queries, keystrokes, geo-locations, etc. It is possible that some of the collected data will also contain sensitive and personally identifiable information. This data is shared with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) and used to generate revenue.
Information tracking and sharing can lead to privacy issues or even identity theft. Furthermore, potentially unwanted programs deliver intrusive advertisements in the form of coupons, banners, pop-ups, surveys, etc. Once clicked, these ads redirect users to potentially malicious/untrustworthy websites.
Some are capable of executing scripts that download and install potentially unwanted programs, including malicious ones. Furthermore, these ads are often displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site (thereby concealing underlying content).
Some PUPs run background tasks such as cryptocurrency mining. In doing so, they often affect computer performance. These are the main reasons why you should uninstall potentially unwanted programs immediately.

According to their developers, many potentially unwanted programs deliver "useful" tools or provide other value, however, in most cases, they are designed only to generate revenue by causing unwanted redirects, delivering intrusive advertisements, and gathering/sharing data.
Therefore, having a potentially unwanted program installed poses a direct threat to your privacy and browsing safety.
How did adware install on my computer?
Potentially unwanted programs can typically be downloaded and installed from official websites, however, research shows that most users download or install them through intrusive ads or when software developers use a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". Bundling is used to stealthily install PUPs together with regular software.
As a rule, these installations are not properly disclosed: potentially unwanted programs are hidden in "Custom", "Advanced" and other settings or options of the installation process.
Furthermore, many users skip installation steps without carefully studying them - this is very convenient for PUP developers who aim to have their software bundled with other software. In this way, users are tricked into installing (or downloading) unwanted software.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download software from official and trustworthy websites (sources) only. Avoid using third party software downloadersa and installers or torrents. Many third party downloaders are monetized by promoting PUPs. Be patient when installing software and analyze each installation step by checking all available "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar parts of the installation process.
We also advise you to avoid clicking on intrusive ads: developers (potentially cyber criminals) invest time and money in their design and they often appear legitimate. Once clicked, however, they often redirect to gambling, pornography, adult dating, and other similar web pages.
If an ad causes this type of redirect, check for unwanted extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons installed on your default browser and remove/uninstall them.
Also check installed programs on your computer. Uninstall any suspicious entries immediately. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
