Objectdexchange.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is objectdexchange.com?
objectdexchange.com is a rogue website, virtually identical to many others such as click-now-extra-special.online, cgkreality.com, pushtrust.com, etc.
These sites cause redirects to untrustworthy websites. Most users arrive at objectdexchange.com unintentionally - they are redirected by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that are installed inadvertently, cause redirects, deliver intrusive ads, collect information, and misuse system resources.
Once installed, a potentially unwanted program forces browsers to open new windows or tabs that redirect to the objectdexchange.com rogue website, which then usually redirects visitors to other (about 2-3) untrustworthy sites. It is likely that one of these websites will contain malicious content and cause high-risk computer infections.
Furthermore, potentially unwanted programs deliver intrusive ads, such as pop-ups, surveys, banners, coupons, and so on. Typically, these ads are displayed via tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site (thereby concealing underlying content).
Once clicked, they can redirect users to untrustworthy (potentially malicious) websites or even execute scripts that download and install other potentially unwanted programs. Furthermore, PUPs gather information (such as IP addresses, search queries, keystrokes, visited websites, geo-locations, etc.) and share it with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) to generate revenue.
It is possible that some of the gathered data will contain personally identifiable information or other sensitive information. Information tracking and sharing can lead to privacy issues (or even identity theft). Furthermore, some PUPs misuse system resources.
Once installed, they run background tasks (such as cryptocurrency mining). In doing so, PUPs can significantly reduce overall computer performance. Clearly PUPs can cause various problems and you are advised to remove them immediately.

There are countless PUPs similar to these on the Internet and most share an identical purpose - to generate revenue by collecting and sharing information, delivering intrusive ads and causing unwanted redirects. They may appear legitimate, however, once installed they barely deliver the promised "useful" features or give any other real value for their users.
How did adware install on my computer?
It is possible that a PUP was downloaded from its official website, since many potentially unwanted programs have official websites. Most, however, are installed through intrusive ads (that are capable of executing particular scripts) or when installing other software.
Developers often use a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" - stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with other software or applications. Usually, PUPs are hidden in "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar settings of the installation processes. As a rule, these installations are not properly disclosed, so it is easier to trick users into installing them inadvertently.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download software using official and trustworthy websites/sources, and avoid using torrents or third party software downloaders. Third party software downloaders (and installers) are usually monetized by promoting various potentially unwanted programs. Do not skip software installation steps without checking the "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings/options.
Deselect unwanted offers/additional software and only then finish the installation. Bear in mind that most intrusive ads appear legitimate and legitimate, however, not all are. Cyber criminals invest time and money and other resources in their design, and thus it is difficult to determine if an ad is legitimate.
If you have clicked on an intrusive advertisement and were redirected to a pornography, adult dating, gambling, or other dubious website, close it and check for unwanted/suspicious entries (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins) installed on your browser, or unwanted programs installed on your computer.
Uninstall/remove unwanted software immediately. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
