Unpollute My Mac Unwanted Application (Mac)
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Unpollute My Mac?
Identical to Mac Tonic, Advanced Mac Cleaner, and many others, Unpollute My Mac is a deceptive application that offers system optimization and malware removal functionality.
Initially, Unpollute My Mac may seem legitimate and useful, however, this app is likely to infiltrate systems without permission. Furthermore, it gives no real value for regular users. Therefore, Unpollute My Mac is categorized as a potentially unwanted application (PUA).
After installing Unpollute My Mac and scanning the system, users are presented with a list containing hundreds of potential threats/infections that must be eliminated immediately. The 'free' version of Unpollute My Mac is supposedly unable to do this. Therefore, users are encouraged to purchase the 'full' version.
This is a scam - the entire list of infections/threats is false and your computer is probably optimized and virus free. Cyber criminals attempt to trick unsuspecting users into purchasing the full version, which does not give any real value - it simply clears the aforementioned list. Criminals generate revenue by extorting money from gullible users.
Uninstall Unpollute My Mac PUA and certainly do not purchase the full version. As mentioned above, this app is likely to infiltrate systems without consent and might come together with other unwanted applications, such as adware and/or browser hijackers.
These apps deliver intrusive advertisements, cause unwanted redirects, and gather sensitive information. As with Unpollute My Mac, they should be uninstalled immediately.

All claims to enable functions are false. Potentially unwanted applications generate intrusive advertisements, record user-system information, cause unwanted redirects, and, in some cases, promote in-app purchases.
How did Unpollute My Mac install on my computer?
Unpollute My Mac is free for anyone to download on its official website, however, developers also proliferate this deceptive app using intrusive advertisements and a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". Intrusive advertisements redirect users to various malicious websites and execute scripts that stealthily download and install rogue apps.
"Bundling" is stealth installation of third party programs with regular software. Developers hide "bundled" applications within various sections (in most cases "Custom" or "Advanced" settings) of the download/installation processes - they do not adequately disclose this information.
Furthermore, many users are very likely to rush download/installation processes and skip steps. In doing so, they expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Careless behavior and lack of knowledge and careless behavior are the main reasons for computer infections. Therefore, it is very important to pay close attention when downloading/installing software and browsing the Internet. Select "Custom/Advanced" settings and carefully analyze all windows of the download/installation dialogs.
Cancel additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them. You are also advised to download your programs from official sources only, using direct download links. Third party downloaders/installers are monetized using the "bundling" method, and thus, these tools should never be used.
It is also important to note that intrusive ads typically seem legitimate, but once clicked, redirect to suspicious websites, such as gambling, adult dating, pornography, and so on.
These ads are typically delivered by adware-type PUPs. Therefore, if you experience suspicious redirects, immediately remove all dubious applications and browser plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with Unpollute My Mac, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
