Webrowsenow.com Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is webrowsenow.com?
webrowsenow.com is one of many fake search engines available on the Internet and promoted by a browser hijacker, in this case, the We Browse Now app. Its developers claim to be global leaders in digital search technology and supposedly have now evolved into a major provider of search-based advertising.
Developers of the We Browse Now browser hijacker also claim that their search engine network consists of thousands of local and international search engine sites and portals. They offer an enhanced browsing experience and the most relevant, improved results. They also help website owners to generate revenue.
This is what most browser hijackers do - they generate revenue for developers by providing users with unwanted and misleading results, and trick them into clicking these dubious links.
If you have We Browse Now installed on your web browser, you should notice that the web browser settings are modified - the search engine, new tab, and homepage URLS are changed to webrowsenow.com If you try to search using this search engine, it will generate dubious results, rather than the information you would expect.
Furthermore, this search engine collects data such as visited websites, search queries, terms, IP addresses, and more. Later, this data will probably be shared with third parties. Therefore, you might encounter problems such as privacy issues or even identity theft.
In addition, you could see unwanted pop-up ads, be tricked into downloading unwanted (potentially malicious) software, or have your computer infected. Do not use browser hijacker apps, even if they seem (or claim to be) legitimate.

The Internet is full of fake search engines including hp.mysearch.com, buyslaw.com, and epicsearches.com - most seem legitimate and similar to search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing etc., however, they are designed only to generate revenue.
In most cases, users will encounter a diminished browsing experience rather than benefit from any functionality promised.
How did webrowsenow.com install on my computer?
In most cases, browser are hijacked using the so-called bundling method or through intrusive ads. Bundling is essentially stealth installation of third party apps with regular software. Free or ad-supportive software tends to have other software bundled with it.
Developers hide bundled software in "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar options/settings of installation processes, so that it is more difficult to notice. Furthermore, they do not explain the purpose of these apps, how to uninstall them, and so on. Another way to install a browser hijacker is through a clicked intrusive advertisement.
These ads usually redirect to malicious websites and execute scripts that stealthy download or install software. If you used a third party software installer or downloader, it is also possible that it installed a browser hijacker without your knowledge.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Do not download software using torrents or third party software downloaders/installers, or from unofficial or untrustworthy websites. Download software from official websites and use direct links only. Do not skip the installation steps (as many users do) and check all the available options, such as "Custom", "Advanced", and other settings/options of this type.
Look for checkboxes, especially for those that are ticked by default, and untick them if they are indicating that you agree to download 'bonus software'. Click ads with care, since intrusive ads often appear legitimate.
Once clicked, however, they might redirect you to various unwanted websites such as gambling, pornography, adult dating etc. or cause even more serious problems.
Have antivirus software installed on your computer and keep it enabled at all times. If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate it.
