Search14.co Redirect

What is search14.co?
The search14.co search engine is owned by a company that claims to be a global leader in digital search technology. By specializing in search engine technology, they aim to help owners of websites and web networks to generate revenue. Judging on appearance alone, the site may seem to be a legitimate search engine such as Google, Yahoo, and others.
search14.co contains just a SEARCH14 logo and search box. There are no additional links to other websites, as is the case on many other fake search engines. When a search query is made, it provides results generated by search14.co, however, they may be dubious and used to generate revenue using third-party advertising.
Therefore, users of search14.co might be provided with modified search results that can lead to ad-supporting pages. There is a high risk of infection, since most of these ad-supportive sites are unsafe. Companies advertising on search14.co collect information from you when clicking their advertisements or accessing their sites (they often do this using cookies).
As search14.co developers state, they do not collect personal information about you, however, they do keep a record of IP addresses accessing the search14.co website. In many cases, collected data is shared with third parties so that developers can generate revenue.
It is also possible that you will be offered third-party services and products when using the search14.co search engine on the slicksearch.com website.

How did search14.co install on my computer?
If your browser was hijacked by search14.co, it probably happened when you were installing software and the browser hijacker was installed as well. This is a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". There are many cases where browser hijackers are proliferated by software installers.
Many users install software without carefully checking all available options, such as "Custom" or "Advanced", and thus browser hijackers are installed.
They can also be installed if you click an attachment within an email received from an unknown sender, visit an infected website, download software from a file-sharing site or via torrents, click "Download" (or similar) buttons on untrustworthy website, or used a third party software downloader/installer.
Clicked intrusive ads can also redirect to malicious websites and execute scripts that stealthily download and install various potentially unwanted programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
When installing software (especially free software) try not to miss any "Custom" or "Advanced options" when going through the installation steps. Check all available checkboxes. Keep your antivirus software enabled and web browser updated. Avoid visiting untrustworthy websites and downloading software from them, and do not click suspicious ads.
Use direct download links and avoid using third party software downloaders or installers. Do not open emails from unknown/suspicious senders and, importantly, do not download files attached to those emails or click links within them.
If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate it.
