Searchdims.network Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is searchdims.network?
searchdims.network is one of many browser hijackers on the Internet and is also known as Search Dims. This is software (an add-on or extension) developed by Smash Media Network, which targets the Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers.
Search Dims is a fake search engine and a browser hijacker that is installed on systems either with or without users' knowledge.
This is a search engine that has a simplistic design, containing only a Search Dims logo, search box, and Search button. It is a very similar or virtually identical to smartsearch.pw, search-mate.com, weknow.ac, and many other search engines. When you enter a keyword and press the Search button, it redirects to the Google search engine.
All results via Search Dims (searchdims.network) are not processed through its server, thus making it an unnecessary third party search engine. As mentioned earlier, it targets Firefox and Chrome users, but is highly likely that other popular browsers such as Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer are targeted.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox, this browser hijacker is installed as an add-on. In other cases, it is installed as an extension or even a program on the operating system.
Search Dims affects browsers in identical ways as other browser hijackers - it takes control over the default browser (or the one hijacked) and sets the homepage, default search provider, and new tab page as searchdims.network

Damage | Internet browsing tracking (potential privacy issues), displaying of unwanted ads, redirects to shady websites. |
Malware Removal (Windows) | To eliminate possible malware infections, scan your computer with legitimate antivirus software. Our security researchers recommend using Combo Cleaner. |
As mentioned, there are a number of browser hijackers available. They may appear different, have different buttons and links on their search engines, and redirect you to different pages, however, the purpose of these browser hijackers remains identical - to collect data, provide misleading results, and redirect to various unknown websites.
In doing so, they generate revenue from users' actions when using certain fake search engines.
How did searchdims.network install on my computer?
Most browser hijackers such as the Search Dims are bundled with software that can be downloaded free of charge. They are often described as 'extra programs' and are delivered in the form of add-ons, extensions, or separate programs in the operating system.
A browser hijacker is an additional option (or feature) that can usually be declined, however, in many cases, users rush through installation steps without reading the End User License Agreement first or checking the "Custom" or "Advanced" (and other, similar installation options), or without unchecking the checkboxes that state that the user agrees/wants to install a specific program (such as the Search Dims browser hijacker).
In other cases, browser hijackers are installed when users click attachments in emails, through software download managers, or when suspicious ads, links, or buttons are clicked.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Avoid visiting suspicious websites and clicking ads, links, buttons, and other similar features. Note that there is no 'free' software. Even if payment is not required, there is usually a 'catch' used to monetize users' actions. Check if the program you wish to download and install is a secure and legitimate.
Check "Advanced" or "Custom" installation options, do not jump through installation steps without checking them, and read the EULA first. Also, look for any ticked checkboxes and study what you might be agreeing to. These checkboxes are usually ticked by default, but that does not mean you should leave them in this state.
Keep real-time antivirus software enabled and keep the browser (and operating system) up-to-date. If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate it.
