What is search.hfreeliveradio.co?
search.hfreeliveradio.co is a fake search engine promoted by its developers using the Free Live Radio browser hijacker. It offers quick and easy access to a radio streaming website called iHeartRadio and others such as YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, Instagram, Twitter, etc. directly from the browser new tab page.
The Free Live Radio browser hijacker targets Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge. It is installed as an add-on, extension, or an independent program on the Windows Operating System.
When installed, Free Live Radio app takes control over the browser and assigns the homepage, search engine, and new tab URL settings to search.hfreeliveradio.co This site is opened when you start the browser or open a new tab. Using the search engine redirects you to the Yahoo search engine, with results supposedly provided by Yahoo.
In fact, these fake search engines tend to provide misleading, unwanted redirects and is how browser hijackers generate revenue for the developers. Furthermore, browser hijackers usually collect information such as browsing habits, IP addresses, search terms, and so on.
There are many cases whereby the collected data is passed to third parties. These actions can lead to more serious problems such as privacy issues and worse.

Most browser hijackers and associated fake search engines claim to be legitimate and provide various 'useful features', such as the ability to access websites or tools with a single click. In fact, regular users do not benefit from these features. Misleading redirects can trick users into downloading malicious software.
Furthermore, they might see random pop-ups and have an overall diminished browsing experience. The Free Live Radio is not the only hijacker of its kind. There are many similar potentially unwanted programs including SearchMood, Play Free Music, and Instant Games Now. They may seem different, but all serve the same purpose.
How did Free Live Radio install on my computer?
If you have visited the freeliveradio.co website, you probably downloaded and installed Free Live Radio on your browser. Another common way to install it (knowingly or otherwise) is via the 'bundling' method. Browser hijackers such as Free Live Radio are usually bundled with software as an extra program, an additional option (or feature) that can be declined.
Many users rush through the installation steps without checking the "Custom" or "Advanced" installation settings or without unchecking the checkboxes where it states that you agree/want to install a particular program. This is often how browser hijackers are installed on web browsers.
In some cases, you do not even need to install software to have your browser hijacked. A simple click of a pop-up ad or "Download" button (which does not necessarily do what you expect) installs an app onto your browser or operating system.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
You should download and install software with care, especially if it is free or downloaded from an unofficial source or torrent. Free software is usually ad-supportive software. Do not skip installation steps by quickly clicking "Next". Check each setting, option, and checkbox to ascertain if there is any sign of potentially unwanted programs.
Do not use third party software downloaders - they could be bundled with unwanted software such as browser hijackers. Do not click pop-up ads or "Download" buttons that look suspicious - they may download unwanted software or redirect you to malicious websites.
Scan your computer for malware and viruses regularly and ensure that your web browser is updated to the latest version. If your computer is already infected with Free Live Radio, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
