What is foobaroo.com?
foobaroo.com (or FooBaroo/FooSearch) is another search engine owned and operated by FooBaroo (as stated on foobaroo.com). You can use this search engine through the foobaroo.com website or by installing a FooBaroo extension. The appearance of this search engine is very similar to other popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and so on.
As FooBaroo developers claim, this extension makes web browsing easy. Once the extension is added to the browser, it changes the default search engine to FooBaroo (foobaroo.com), sets it as the homepage, and all opened new tabs will lead you to foobaroo.com The extension is available only on Google Chrome and it can be found in the Chrome Web Store or foobaroo.com website.
Unlike most browser hijackers, FooBaroo is a search engine that does contain additional graphical icons with links or buttons that lead to various known and unknown websites. It simply has a search box, "Web Search" button and the "FooBaroo" logo, which makes this search engine appear legitimate.
Before being applied to the browser, however, it states that once the Foobaroo extension is added to Google Chrome, it can read and change all data on websites that you visit and replace the page that you see when opening a new tab.
FooBaroo developers claim that they do not collect any personal information such as geographical location, social security number, insurance plan number, etc. They also claim that, to ensure your privacy, they are not building any profile based on what you search using the Foobaroo search engine.
According to FooBaroo, they simply collect your IP address and search terms. As they state, they collect this data only to serve relevant results based on your geographical location and improve search results.
FooBaroo also informs users that the collected data may be accessible to third parties such as FooBaroo website hosting partners or other parties who assist them in various processes.
Additionally, they may share, rent or sell collected information to third parties so they can develop the product, and deliver search results and advertising. Note that you may be presented with offers for various third-party products or services on their website while using the FooBaroo extension (search engine).

The FooBaroo search engine is one of many search engines that can be used through certain websites (such as lammbda.com) or an installed extension. This search engine may seem virtually identical to many others, but the impact on the browser may be different.
We found some information on the Internet suggesting that FooBaroo is a potentially unwanted program and a browser hijacker. When used, these search engines usually collect data, and there are many cases where this data is used to generate revenue, especially if you are redirected to various other websites filled with suspicious ads, buttons, and links.
Visiting these websites can lead to more serious problems such as computer infections. It is a better idea to use popular and trustworthy search engine to avoid these problems.
How did FooSearch install on my computer?
As we mentioned earlier, the FooBaroo extension is available in Chrome Web Store and foobaroo.com, so it is highly likely that you obtained it from on of these sources. If FooBaroo is a web browser hijacker, it might be installed via add-supporting programs or freeware/shareware.
There are many cases whereby these browser hijackers are bundled with software that you download from the Internet. Or, they are installed via software download managers, torrents, or suspicious links. It is possible that you clicked on a link inadvertently and your browser was then hijacked.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
As mentioned, in most cases browser hijackers are installed by dangerous free software, shareware, or various ad-supporting programs, which include toolbars, browser plug-ins, add-ons, and so on. Therefore, browser hijackers are usually bundled with various free programs that you download from the Internet.
In most cases, these programs are free, since they include browser hijackers or adware programs. To prevent potentially unwanted applications from being installed on your browser, we recommend that you install software with caution, especially if it is 'free' or downloaded from an unofficial source. Check "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar installation options.
Also, do not miss any checkbox and ensure that you do not agree to download software you do not require. Do not click suspicious "Download" and other similar buttons, especially on dubious websites. Keep your antivirus real-time protection enabled and your operating system (and browser) updated.
If your computer is already infected with FooSearch, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
