SlikDealer Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is SlikDealer?
Developers present SlikDealer as a legitimate application that supposedly saves time and money by providing shopping coupons and notifications of special deals/discounts available within online shops.
This functionality may seem legitimate and useful, however, this app infiltrates systems without permission. Furthermore, SlikDealer feeds users with intrusive advertisements and collects sensitive data. For these reasons, SlikDealer is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
Immediately after infiltration, SlikDealer employs tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. These tools are used to deliver intrusive advertisements (coupons, banners, pop-ups, etc.) and conceal visited website content, significantly diminishing the browsing experience.
Furthermore, displayed ads can redirect to rogue websites (that contain malicious content) and run scripts that download and install malware/PUPs. Therefore, even a single click might result in high-risk computer infections. Information tracking is also an issue.
As with other regular adware, SlikDealer continually records sensitive information (e.g., IP addresses, websites visited, search queries, and so on). The collected information might contain confidential details. Aware of this, developers sell it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who generate revenue by misusing private information.
Therefore, data tracking/sharing can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly advise you to uninstall SlikDealer adware and scan the entire system with a legitimate anti-virus/anti-spyware suite to remove all remnants.

SlikDealer is identical to Alpha Shoppers, Mommys Offers, Total Deal Search, and a number of other potentially unwanted programs. All offer identical functionality, however, none provide any real value. SlikDealer and these other applications are designed only to generate revenue for the developers.
They promise to deliver "useful features", but these are merely attempts to trick users to install. These programs generate intrusive ads and gather sensitive information, thereby posing a threat to your privacy and Internet browsing safety.
How did SlikDealer install on my computer?
SlikDealer has an official download website, however, due to the lack of knowledge and careless behavior of many users, SlikDealer often infiltrates systems without permission. Developers proliferate SlikDealer using the "bundling" method together with intrusive ads. "Bundling" is stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with regular (typically, free) software/apps.
Developers do not disclose installation of "bundled" apps properly. They hide them within "Custom/Advanced" options or other sections of the download/installation procedures. Rushing these procedures, skipping steps, and clicking various ads often leads to inadvertent installation of rogue applications, such as SlikDealer.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent this situation, be very careful when browsing the Internet and, especially when downloading/installing software. Be aware that intrusive advertisements look legitimate, however, they redirect to dubious websites (such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, and so on). In most cases, the ads are delivered by adware-type applications.
Therefore, if you encounter them, remove all dubious applications and browser plug-ins immediately. Select "Custom/Advanced" download/installation settings, closely observe each step, and cancel all additionally-included programs.
We also strongly recommend that you download applications from official sources only, preferably using direct download links. Third party download/installation tools are used to proliferate ("bundle") PUPs and, thus, should not be used. The key to computer safety is caution.
