Search.hyourmapview.com Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is search.hyourmapview.com?
Developers present Your Map View as a legitimate application that supposedly provides GPS-related functions. On initial inspection, Your Map View may seem legitimate and useful, however, this potentially unwanted program (PUP) often infiltrates systems without permission and records sensitive data.
Furthermore, Your Map View is categorized as a browser hijacker - a form of unwanted software that modifies web browser options without users’ permission.
Immediately after infiltration, Your Map View hijacks Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, stealthily assigning the new tab URL/default search engine/homepage options to search.hyourmapview.com - a fake Internet search engine. Although these changes may seem insignificant, users are unable to revert them.
Your Map View continually reassigns browser settings when attempts are made to change them. Therefore, users are unable to return browsers to their previous states and are encouraged to visit search.hyourmapview.com when they open a new browser tab or search via the URL bar. These redirects significantly diminish the browsing experience.
This browser-hijacking application is essentially used to deceptively build search.hyourmapview.com traffic. As mentioned above, Your Map View gathers various data (e.g., IP addresses, search queries, URLs visited, etc.) likely to contain personal details. Your Map View's developers later share this collected data with third parties to generate revenue.
In doing so, they put users' privacy at risk. Furthermore, some potentially unwanted programs misuse system resources to perform various tasks (e.g., to mine cryptocurrency) without users' consent. In this way, PUPs significantly reduce overall system performance. For these reasons, uninstall Your Map View and other PUPs immediately.

Your Map View is identical to Watching News Online, Easy Coupon Access, My Email Signin, and a number of other PUPs. In fact, it is very similar to all browser-hijackers. By offering various "useful features", PUPs such as Your Map View attempt to give the impression of legitimacy. In fact, most deliver no real value for regular users.
Potentially unwanted programs are designed only to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than enabling the features promised, PUPs pose a direct threat to your privacy and Internet browsing safety.
Fake search engines are also likely to feed users with various intrusive advertisements (banners, coupons, so on so forth) and/or false search results. These ads and results typically lead to malicious websites. Some ads are also designed to run scripts that download and install malware. Therefore, using a fake search engine is very risky.
How did search.hyourmapview.com install on my computer?
Your Map View is free for anyone to download on its official website, however, users often install this application inadvertently, without their consent. Criminals proliferate potentially unwanted programs using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling", and intrusive advertisements. "Bundling" is stealth installation of PUPs with regular (mostly free) software.
Developers do not disclose these installations properly - they hide "bundled" apps within the "Custom/Advanced" settings of the download or installation processes. Therefore, skipping steps and clicking advertisements exposes systems to risk of various infections.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The main reasons for computer infections are poor knowledge and careless behavior. The key to safety is caution. Therefore, be very careful when browsing the Internet and downloading/installing software. Select the "Custom/Advanced" settings, analyze each step, and opt-out of all additionally-included programs.
Furthermore, note that criminals monetize unofficial download/installation set-ups by promoting rogue programs (the "bundling" method). Therefore, we strongly advise you to avoid using such tools.
Note the appearance of Intrusive ads: most look legitimate, since criminals invest a great deal of resources into their design, however, they are identifiable, since they typically lead to various dubious websites (e.g., surveys, gambling, adult dating, etc.). If you encounter such redirects, uninstall all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins.
