Facebook AdBlock Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Facebook AdBlock?
Developers state that Facebook AdBlock is a legitimate application that enhances users' Internet browsing experience by blocking all advertisements displayed within the Facebook social network. Initially, this app may seem legitimate and useful, however, Facebook AdBlock often infiltrates systems without permission.
Furthermore, it feeds users with intrusive advertisements and records sensitive data. For these reasons, Facebook AdBlock is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
Following successful infiltration, Facebook AdBlock delivers coupon, banner, pop-up, and other similar intrusive ads. To achieve this, the app uses certain tool(s) that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, displayed ads are likely to conceal underlying content of visited websites, thus significantly diminishing the browsing experience.
In addition, these ads might lead to malicious websites and/or even execute scripts that download/install malware (or other PUPs). Therefore, even accidental clicks can result in high-risk computer infections. Facebook AdBlock is essentially used to generate fraudulent advertising revenue.
Another downside is data tracking. Facebook AdBlock continually tracks various information (mostly relating to Internet browsing habits). Collected data is likely to include personal details that PUP developers share with third parties to generate revenue. This behavior can result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft.
Although Facebook AdBlock is currently unconfirmed to misuse system resources, some PUPs do. These programs mine cryptocurrency or run other unwanted processes without users' consent.
In doing so, potentially unwanted programs significantly reduce overall system performance. Therefore, we strongly advise you to uninstall Facebook AdBlock and other similar applications immediately.

Facebook AdBlock is virtually identical to SearchMyFile, Nilla Weather, Check Weather, and dozens of other adware-type applications. Note that these apps offer different functionality, however, all have identical behavior. Claims to deliver useful functionality are merely attempts to give the impression of legitimacy.
Potentially unwanted programs such as Facebook AdBlock are designed only to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than giving any real value, they pose a direct threat to your privacy and Internet browsing safety.
How did Facebook AdBlock install on my computer?
Facebook AdBlock has an official download website, however, it is also proliferated using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling", together with the aforementioned intrusive ads. Due to careless behavior and lack of knowledge by many users, Facebook AdBlock often infiltrates systems without permission.
Users are often rush download/installation processes and skip steps. Aware of this, developers hide "bundled" apps within the "Custom/Advanced" settings or other sections of the download/installation processes. Skipping these steps and clicking dubious advertisements exposes your system to risk of various infections and compromises your privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent system infiltration by apps such as Facebook AdBlock, pay close attention when browsing the Internet, and when downloading/installing software. Intrusive ads typically look legitimate, however, they are distinguishable for their redirects - they lead to gambling, adult dating, pornography, and other suspicious sites.
Therefore, if you encounter such redirects, immediately eliminate all suspicious applications and browser extensions.
Furthermore, carefully analyze each download/installation step and opt-out of all additionally-included programs. Third party downloaders/installers are monetized using the "bundling" method (they promote malicious apps). Therefore, we strongly advise you to avoid using these tools.
