BetterCareerSearch Toolbar

What is hp.myway.com?
BetterCareerSearch is a deceptive application developed by Mindspark Interactive Network (also known as IAC Applications). According to the developers, BetterCareerSearch allows users to find various job offers.
On initial inspection, this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, however, this potentially unwanted program (PUP) infiltrates systems without permission. Furthermore, BetterCareerSearch is categorized as a browser hijacker - a form of unwanted software that modifies web browser options without users' consent.
BetterCareerSearch hijacks Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, stealthily assigning the new tab URL, default search engine, and homepage options by assigning them to hp.myway.com. Although these changes may seem insignificant, users are unable to revert them.
BetterCareerSearch continues to reassign browser options when attempts are made to change them. Therefore, returning browsers to their previous states becomes impossible and users continually encounter unwanted redirects to hp.myway.com, significantly diminishing the web browsing experience.
Modification of web browser options is common to browser-hijacking PUPs, however, these programs also gather various information. Although BetterCareerSearch is not confirmed to record data, most browser hijackers record IP addresses, website URLs visited, search queries, keystrokes, and other information that might contain personal details.
Developers sell this information to third parties (mostly, for marketing purposes), thereby putting users' privacy at risk. Furthermore, some PUPs misuse system resources to run unwanted background processes (e.g., mining cryptocurrency), without permission.
In doing so, PUPs significantly diminish computer performance. Therefore, we advise you to eliminate apps such as BetterCareerSearch immediately.

Mindspark Interactive Network has released dozens of browser-hijacking programs identical to BetterCareerSearch. For example, AstrologySearcher, GifaPalooza, ConvertDocsOnline, and EasyPackageTracker. These apps offer different functionality, but have identical behavior.
In fact, browser-hijacking applications are designed only to generate revenue for the developers. Claims to enable "useful features" are often false - many browser hijackers give no real value for regular users.
These programs merely cause unwanted redirects (thereby promoting malicious sites, most of which are fake search engines), gather data, and misuse system resources, thereby posing a threat to your privacy and Internet browsing safety.
How did BetterCareerSearch install on my computer?
BetterCareerSearch is free for anyone to download on its official website, however, due to a lack of knowledge and careless behavior exhibited by many users, browser hijackers often infiltrate systems without permission. Developers proliferate PUPs via 'malvertising' ads (pop-ups, coupons, banners, etc.) and a deceptive marketing method called "bundling".
Malicious ads usually lead to dubious websites and, in some cases, execute scripts that download and install malware/PUPs. "Bundling" is stealth installation of third party software together with regular (mostly free) programs.
Developers conceal "bundled" apps within various sections (e.g., "Custom/Advanced" settings) of the download/installation processes. By clicking various ads and rushing download/installation processes, users often expose their systems to risk of various infections.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The key to computer safety is caution. Therefore, it is very important to pay close attention when downloading/installing software and browsing the Internet in general. Carefully analyze each window of the download/installation dialogues to opt-out of all additionally-included programs.
In addition, never use third party download/installation tools, since criminals monetize them by promoting rogue apps (the "bundling" method). Furthermore, be aware that criminals invest a great deal of resources into malicious ad design.
Therefore, most appear genuine, however, these ads usually redirect to survey, gambling, adult dating, pornography, and other suspicious websites. Malicious ads are often delivered by various adware-type programs. If you encounter such advertisements, uninstall all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins.
