Windows Management Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Windows Management?
Windows Management is a deceptive program that infiltrates the system during installation of other applications. Following successful installation, Windows Management generates intrusive online advertisements and collects various data relating to users' Internet browsing activity.
For these reasons, this program is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
Windows Management employs a 'virtual layer' to generate pop-up, banner, coupon, and other similar ads. The virtual layer enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. None of the displayed ads originate from the visited websites and often conceal underlying content.
This significantly diminishes the Internet browsing experience. In addition, the ads can lead to malicious websites containing infectious content - clicking them risks further adware or malware infections.
Furthermore, Windows Management continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity by recording various data that might be personally identifiable including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, websites visited, search queries, and pages viewed - these are just some examples from a long list of gathered data types.
The developers of Windows Management share this recorded information with third parties, who misuse private details to generate revenue. This situation can cause serious privacy issues. Therefore, you should uninstall Windows Management adware immediately.
Research reveals hundreds of adware-type applications similar to Windows Management including, for example, AppTrailers, LoadLeader, and DailyBee. All offer a number of so-called 'useful features' that supposedly improve the Internet browsing experience, however, adware is designed only to generate revenue for the developers.
Claims to enable 'useful functionality' are simply attempts to trick users to install. Applications such as Windows Management merely generate intrusive online advertisements and collect personally identifiable information.
How did Windows Management install on my computer?
Windows Management is distributed using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" and, thus, users often install this PUP inadvertently, without their consent. Bundling is stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with regular (usually free) software.
Developers know that many users rush the download/installation processes and skip steps. Therefore, they hide bundled programs within the "Custom/Advanced" settings. Skipping this section often leads to inadvertent installation of bogus programs, including Windows Management.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Firstly, PUPs are distributed using the bundling method. Therefore, never rush the download or installation processes. Analyze these procedures using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings. Secondly, cancel all third party programs listed for download/installation.
