What is Dealbeaver?
Dealbeaver is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that supposedly saves time and money by providing notifications of special deals/discounts available on various online stores, providing coupons, and enabling other 'useful' features.
These claims often trick users to install, however, Dealbeaver often infiltrates systems without direct user permission. Furthermore, this app tracks users' web browsing activity and continually delivers intrusive online advertisements. For these reasons, Dealbeaver is classed as adware.
Following infiltration, Dealbeaver displays pop-up, coupon, banner, and various other advertisement types. To achieve this, developers employ a 'virtual layer' - a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, the ads often conceal underlying content of visited websites, thereby significantly diminishing the web browsing experience.
In addition, some will redirect to malicious websites - clicking them might cause further high-risk adware or malware infections. Dealbeaver records Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine geographic locations), website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar information relating to users' web browsing activity.
This information might contain private details that developers share with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse private data to generate revenue. Therefore, the presence of an information-tracking app such as Dealbeaver on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to eliminate this PUP immediately.
There are hundreds of potentially unwanted programs virtually identical to Dealbeaver including, for example, MySafeSavings, Oh My Tabs, and Shopper-Expert. All offer identical functionality, and yet, none provide any real value. Research shows that adware-type applications are designed only to generate revenue for the developers.
These apps deliver no significant value for regular users. Dealbeaver, and other similar PUPs, collect personally identifiable information and deliver intrusive online advertisements.
How did Dealbeaver install on my computer?
Dealbeaver is free for anyone to download on its official website, however, users often install this PUP inadvertently, without their consent due to a deceptive software marketing method called "bundling" (which developers use to stealthily infiltrate Dealbeaver on computers). Bundling is essentially stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with regular software/apps.
Developers know that users often rush and skip most/all of the download and installation steps. Therefore, they hide bundled programs within the "Custom/Advanced" settings. By skipping this section, users expose their systems to risk of various infections.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Installation of PUPs such as Dealbeaver can be prevented by taking a number of simple steps. Firstly, select the "Custom/Advanced" settings and carefully analyze each step of the download, and installation processes.
Secondly, decline all offers to download and/or install third party applications and opt-out of those already included. Bundled software is often rogue and should never be installed.
