Oh My Tabs Adware

What is Oh My Tabs?
Oh My Tabs is a dubious application that supposedly provides various coupons, enables comparison shopping function, notifies of deals/discounts available on various online stores, and provides other similar features that supposedly save time and money while shopping online.
This might seem legitimate and useful functionality, however, Oh My Tabs is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
One of the main reasons for these negative associations is stealth installation without users' consent. After successful system infiltration, this app generates intrusive online advertisements and continually records various information relating to users' web browsing activity.
Oh My Tabs delivers pop-up, banner, interstitial, transitional, full-page, coupon, search, and other similar advertisements. All are displayed using a 'virtual layer' - a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. None originate from users' visited websites and conceal underlying content, significantly diminishing the web browsing experience.
Furthermore, ads by Oh My Tabs adware often lead to malicious websites containing infectious content. Thus, even accidental clicks can result in high-risk adware or malware infections. Another downside of this PUP is information tracking.
Oh My Tabs gathers unique identifier numbers, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine geo-location), website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries entered into search engines, and other similar data.
Initially, this information might seem insignificant, however, it can include personally identifiable details that developers of Oh My Tabs (Yontoo) share with third parties. These third parties can misuse personal data to generate revenue, thereby causing serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Therefore, we strongly advise you to uninstall Oh My Tabs adware immediately.
This PUP is identical to Hide My AdBlocker, Web Timer, Yealt, and many other apps. Note that all offer different functionality, and yet, they have identical behavior. Yontoo aims to generate as much revenue as possible. Therefore, its products merely generate intrusive advertisements and continually gather personally identifiable information. These applications are useless for regular users.
How did Oh My Tabs install on my computer?
Research shows that Oh My Tabs has an official download website, however, it is also distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', which is the main reason many users install Oh My Tabs inadvertently. Bundling is essentially stealth installation of additional applications with regular software/apps.
Developers are aware that many users do not express enough caution when downloading and installing software. Research also shows that many users do not express enough caution when downloading and installing software.
Aware of this, developers conceal all bundled programs within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings of these procedures. Users who skip this section, often inadvertently install bogus programs. In doing so, they expose their systems to risk of further infection and threaten their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The key to computer safety is caution. Never rush the download or installation processes. Carefully observe each step of these procedures using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. Furthermore, all third party applications listed for download/installation should be cancelled.
