How to uninstall MySocialShortcut toolbar?
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is hp.myway.com?
MySocialShortcut is a rogue browser extension claiming to provide quick access to various social networks. On initial inspection, this functionality may appear legitimate and useful, however, MySocialShortcut often infiltrates systems without users' permission.
Furthermore, this extension tracks users' web browsing activity and stealthily modifies Internet browser settings. For these reasons, MySocialShortcut is classed as a potentially unwanted application (PUA) and a browser hijacker.
Following infiltration, MySocialShortcut assigns the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox new tab URL, homepage, and default search engine options to hp.myway.com. Users are unable to revert these changes, since MySocialShortcut automatically reassigns the settings when user-attempts are made to change them.
Therefore, it is impossible to return browsers to their previous states and users are forced to visit hp.myway.com without their consent, significantly diminishing the web browsing experience. Furthermore, MySocialShortcut records data relating to Internet browsing activity.
Most users are unaware that Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar data could be personally identifiable. In addition, Mindspark Interactive Network (developers of MySocialShortcut) share this gathered data with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals), who misuse personal details to generate revenue.
Thus, the presence of an information-tracking app on your system can result in serious privacy issues. You are strongly advised to remove the MySocialShortcut browser hijacker immediately.

MySocialShortcut is identical to MyTelevisionHQ, SimplePackageFinder, MapMyWayFree and a number of other browser-hijacking programs.
Be aware that each one offers different functions, and yet, has identical behavior. All are designed by the same company to generate revenue for the developers - they merely cause unwanted browser redirects to hp.myway.com and collect personally identifiable information. These browser hijackers are useless for regular users.
How did MySocialShortcut install on my computer?
MySocialShortcut has an official download website, however, it is also distributed using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" and, thus, many users install this browser hijacker inadvertently. Bundling is essentially stealth installation of additional programs with regular software/apps.
Users often do not express enough caution during the download/installation processes. Therefore, by rushing and skipping most/all steps, they inadvertently install bundled software hidden within the "Custom/Advanced" settings.
Some PUAs can be installed when users click on intrusive advertisements. These ads can execute scripts, designed to stealthily install such applications.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Prevent this situation by taking a number of simple steps. Firstly, closely analyze each step of the download/installation processes using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings. Secondly, decline all additionally-included programs and offers to download/install them.
There is a high probability that bundled software will be rogue - do not install it. Exercise caution when browsing and do not click on random advertisements. Intrusive adverts typically appear legitimate and harmless, however they redirect to various questionable websites (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc).
