Classic For Facebook Adware

What is Classic For Facebook?
Developed by Yontoo, Classic For Facebook is a dubious browser extension that claims to change Facebook's web layout. On initial inspection, this application may seem legitimate and useful, however, it is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
There are three main reasons for these negative associations - stealth installation without users' permission, tracking of web browsing activity, and display of various intrusive online advertisements.
After system infiltration, Classic For Facebook records Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine geographic location), unique identifier numbers, websites visited, search queries entered into search engines, pages viewed, and other similar information relating to users' web browsing activity.
This data may seem insignificant, however, it might contain personally identifiable details. Note that Yontoo shares this private data with cooperating third party companies who misuse it to generate revenue. Therefore, the presence of an information-tracking app on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft.
Another downside of Classic For Facebook is display of intrusive online advertisements. This PUP employs a 'virtual layer' to generate various ads including pop-up, banner, interstitial, coupon, transitional, search, full-page, and many others.
These do not originate from users' visited websites and conceal underlying content, significantly diminishing the web browsing experience. In addition, some lead to malicious websites - clicking them risks further adware or malware infections. For these reasons, we strongly advise you to eliminate Classic For Facebook adware from your computer immediately.
Classic For Facebook is identical to Web Timer, Yealt, Hide My AdBlocker, and a number of other deceptive programs. All offer different functionality to supposedly improve the web browsing experience, however, they have identical behavior. Yontoo's aim is to generate as much revenue as possible and, thus, its products provide no value for regular users.
Apps such as Classic For Facebook simply collect personally identifiable information (which is later sold to third parties) and generate intrusive content-concealing advertisements (via the 'Pay Per Click’ [PPC] advertising model).
How did Classic For Facebook install on my computer?
Research shows that Classic For Facebook has an official download website, however, it is also distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of third party software with regular apps). Therefore, many users install Classic For Facebook adware inadvertently without their consent.
Many users do not pay enough attention during the download/installation processes - aware of this, developers conceal bundled programs within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings of these procedures. Users often skip this section, often leading to inadvertent installation of potentially unwanted programs such as Classic For Facebook.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The key to computer safety is caution. Never rush the download or installation processes. Closely analyze each step of these procedures using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. Furthermore, all offers to download/install third party applications should be declined and those already included, cancelled.
