What is TapBreaker?
TapBreaker is a deceptive application identical to PlayLunar, FunOnlinePlay, Froovr, and many others. By falsely claiming to allow users to play various Flash games, TapBreaker attempts to give the impression of legitimate software.
In fact, this app often infiltrates systems without users’ permission, monitors browsing activity, and displays various intrusive online advertisements. For these reasons, TapBreaker is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
Once infiltrated, TapBreaker immediately employs a 'virtual layer' to generate coupon, banner, and other similar advertisements. The virtual layer is a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, ads generated by TapBreaker often conceal underlying website content, significantly diminishing the web browsing experience.
Furthermore, displayed ads might redirect to malicious websites containing infectious content - clicking them risks further adware or malware infections. TapBreaker continually records IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar information that might be personally identifiable.
This data is shared with cooperating third party companies who often misuse private details to generate revenue. This can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Thus, we strongly advise you to uninstall TapBreaker adware immediately.
Research shows that many adware-type programs are very similar. All falsely claim to enhance the web browsing experience simply to trick users to install. In fact, adware is designed only to generate revenue for the developers - most provide no real value for regular users.
Apps such as TapBreaker collect personal information (which is later sold to third parties), deliver intrusive online advertisements (via the 'Pay Per Click’ [PPC] advertising model), and cause unwanted browser redirects (thereby generating traffic for certain websites).
How did TapBreaker install on my computer?
This bogus app is free for anyone to download on its official website, however, it is also distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of third party programs with regular software/apps). Therefore, users often install TapBreaker inadvertently.
Developers hide PUPs within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings of the download or installation processes. Many users skip this section, thus, leading to inadvertent installation of potentially unwanted programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
PUPs are often distributed using the bundling method. Therefore, never rush the download or installation processes. Select the 'Custom/Advanced' settings, analyze each step, and cancel all third party apps listed for download/installation.
