Gooooodle.com Ads

What is gooooodle[.]com?

Like many other rogue websites (e.g. w4sercher.biz, homededruju.com, farcaleniom.com, etc.), gooooodle[.]com is designed to present visitors with dubious content and generate redirects to untrustworthy, malicious web pages.

Few users enter these sites intentionally - most are redirected by intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already infiltrated into the device. These apps operate by causing redirects of this kind, running intrusive ad campaigns, making unauthorized changes to browsers, and tracking data.

Critical Microsoft Windows Update! Email Scam

What is "Critical Microsoft Windows Update!"?

There are many spam campaigns that cyber criminals employ to infect computers with malware. In this case, cyber criminals send emails disguised as messages from Microsoft regarding a 'critical' or 'latest' Windows update. A .jpg file, which is actually an executable [.exe]) attached to the emails, supposedly infects systems with Cyborg ransomware if opened.

In fact, the attachment does not install the aforementioned malware, probably due to its format. In any case, emails of this kind should never be trusted, and more importantly, files attached to them should not be opened.

Angus (Phobos) Ransomware

What is Angus (Phobos)?

Discovered by Raby, Angus is a malicious program belonging to the Phobos ransomware family. This malware encrypts data and demands ransom payments for decryption tools/software. During the encryption process, all files are renamed with the victim's unique ID, developers' email address and the ".angus" extension.

For example, "1.jpg" might appear similar to "1.jpg.id[1E857D00-2315].[decrypt@files.mn].angus", and so on for all affected files. After this process is complete, a text file ("info.txt") and an HTML application ("info.hta") are stored on the desktop.

MacCleansePro Unwanted Application (Mac)

What is MacCleansePro?

MacCleansePro is the name of an app that supposedly keeps Mac computers clean and improves overall system performance, however, developers distribute it using the set-ups of other programs (they include it as an additional offer). Typically, people download and install apps that are distributed in this way unintentionally.

For this reason, MacCleansePro is categorized as a potentially unwanted application (PUA).

Spnews.biz Ads

What is spnews[.]biz?

Similar to homededruju.comdstatutorsher.infoeadingenered.pro, and thousands of others, spnews[.]biz is a rogue webpage. It operates by presenting visitors with dubious and possibly harmful content. Additionally, this site generates redirects to other untrustworthy, even malicious websites.

Most users enter spnews[.]biz inadvertently when they are redirected through intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs). These apps do not need explicit user consent to be installed onto devices. After successful infiltration, however, they cause redirects, deliver intrusive ads, hijack browsers, and track browsing-related information.

W4sercher.biz Ads

What is w4sercher[.]biz?

w4sercher[.]biz is a dubious website. When opened, it often redirects visitors to other dubious web pages. There are many websites of this type online including, for example, homededruju[.]com, eadingenered[.]pro, and actraffic[.]info.

Typically, people do not visit these sites intentionally - in most cases, they are opened by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) installed on their browsers. PUAs open dubious web pages, display intrusive ads, and collect data.

Website Security Checker Browser Hijacker

What is Website Security Checker?

Website Security Checker is a browser hijacker, which is promoted as a free tool for detecting various malicious websites. After successful infiltration, it modifies browsers to promote a fake search engine (browsersecuritycenter.com). Furthermore, it monitors users' browsing activity and gathers their personal information.

Tunesysbooster.xyz POP-Up Scam (Mac)

What is tunesysbooster[.]xyz?

Note that no website can detect issues/threats present on devices or scan systems for them. Furthermore, tunesysbooster[.]xyz itself is designed to endorse various untrustworthy applications.

At the time of research, it promoted the Smart Mac Booster Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA). Few users access tunesysbooster[.]xyz or other deceptive web pages intentionally - most are redirected by intrusive advertisements or PUAs already present within the system.

Quick Audio Converter Browser Hijacker

What is Quick Audio Converter?

Quick Audio Converter supposedly provides quick access to various online audio converters, however, once installed, it changes certain browser settings. Quick Audio Converter promotes search.quickaudioconvertertab.com, which is the address of a fake search engine.

Furthermore, it collects browsing-related data. Apps that operate in this way are categorized as browser hijackers and known as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs), since many people download and install them unintentionally.

TopLookup Adware (Mac)
