Home.login-help.net Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is home.login-help.net?
Login Help is a deceptive application identical to My Shopping XP, My Shopping XP, My Daily Verse XP, and a number of other PUPs. Login Help claims to provide direct access to various popular e-mail services (for example, Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.), display current weather forecasts, and allow users to search the Internet.
By giving these fake promises, Login Help often tricks users into believing that it is legitimate and useful software.
Due to its rogue behavior, however, Login Help is categorized as a browser-hijacking potentially unwanted program (PUP), since it infiltrates systems without users’ permission, generates various intrusive advertisements, tracks Internet browsing activity, and causes unwanted redirects.
After infiltrating the system, Login Help assigns the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox new tab URL, default search engine, and homepage browser settings to the home.login-help.net website. Furthermore, the installed application and browser plug-ins (called 'helper objects') prevent users from returning browsers to their previous states.
Continual unwanted browser redirects significantly diminish the Internet browsing experience. Furthermore, Login Help generates various intrusive online advertisements that conceal underlying web content.
These ads are likely to redirect to dubious websites that might contain infectious content - clicking them is risky and may lead to high-risk adware or malware infections. Login Help also records various information relating to Internet browsing activity.
This gathered data will contain personally identifiable details that are shared with third parties who are likely to misuse them to generate revenue. Thus, the presence of Login Help on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to uninstall Login Help PUP immediately.
There are tens of potentially unwanted programs with similar behavior to Login Help. All browser hijackers claim to be legitimate and supposedly provide a number of 'valuable' features that improve the Internet browsing experience. In fact, these fake promises are merely attempts to trick users to install.
The real purpose of apps such as Login Help is to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than providing the functionality promised, these apps display intrusive ads, cause unwanted browser redirects, and track personally identifiable data.
How did home.login-help.net install on my computer?
Login Help is mostly proliferated as using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of bogus software with regular software/apps). For this reason, many users install this app inadvertently.
The developers know that users are likely to skip most/all of the download/installation steps and intentionally conceal rogue programs within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. By rushing these processes, users often inadvertently install PUPs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Installation of browser-hijacking apps can be prevented by taking two simple steps. Firstly, never rush when downloading and installing software - closely analyze these processes using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. Secondly, decline all offers to download or install additional applications and opt-out of those already included, since they are likely to be infectious.
