AllStarDeals Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is AllStarDeals?
The AllStarDeals application supposedly helps to save time and money while shopping online - "Use the AllStarDeals browser add on and start shopping today without hurting your budget. It’s the complete online shopping tool that gives you the ultimate advantage of comparing the nest deals, discounts, and promotions from all your favourite online shopping sites."
These false claims are employed to trick users into believing that this application is legitimate and useful. In fact, AllStarDeals is a potentially unwanted adware-type program (PUP). This is due to its rogue behavior, which includes stealth installation without users' consent, tracking of Internet browsing activity, and delivery of intrusive online advertisements.
Be aware that AllStarDeals continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity, gathering various information such as search queries entered into search engines, website URLs visited, pages viewed, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, and other data.
This information is not only shared with third parties, but it can also contain personally identifiable details that are misused to generate revenue. Thus, AllStarDeals poses a direct threat to your privacy and identity. Furthermore, AllStarDeals employs a virtual layer to generate coupon, comparison shopping, pop-up, and other intrusive ads.
Most redirect to e-commerce websites, however, some may redirect to infectious sites. There is a high probability that clicking them will cause high-risk adware or malware infections. If you are concerned with your privacy and Internet browsing safety, eliminate AllStarDeals immediately.
AllStarDeals is identical to LuckySave, HaggleDazzle, FantasticDiscounts, and a number of other adware-type applications. All offer identical features, and yet, none provide any real value for users. These apps are designed solely to generate revenue for the developers.
AllStarDeals displays intrusive online advertisements (via the 'Pay Per Click' [PPC] advertising model) and collects personally identifiable information (which is later shared with third party companies to generate revenue).
How did AllStarDeals install on my computer?
Although AllStarDeals has an official download website, most users install this application inadvertently without their consent.
The developers are aware that many users do not express enough caution when downloading and installing software, and thus, employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of third party apps with regular software/apps) to distribute AllStarDeals adware.
Bundled applications are often hidden within the 'Custom/Advanced' download/installation settings. By rushing these processes and skipping this section, users often install applications such as AllStarDeals inadvertently.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Be aware that bundled applications are usually rogue and you should never accept download or installation of them. These apps are commonly hidden, and therefore, you should select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings when downloading and installing software - this will reveal any hidden PUPs listed for installation and enable you to cancel them.
