What is gsave?
Gsave is a rogue application that employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to infiltrate Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox).
Bundling is a way for developers to distribute their applications together with other software, and therefore, most users install gsave inadvertently together with software downloadable on freeware download websites.
After infiltration, gsave generates intrusive online advertisements such as banner, pop-up, display, etc. These are likely to lead to dubious websites containing infectious content, and therefore, your computer may become infected.
In addition, this adware also records various software and hardware information including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, websites visited, pages viewed and search queries. These are just some example of recorded information that might contain personally identifiable information.
This behavior can lead to serious privacy issues. Potentially unwanted adware-type applications are often distributed using the bundling method and most behave in a similar way - they claim to enable various features, but in fact, generate ads and collect personal data.
Gsave, and other similar apps, are developed solely to generate revenue, and therefore, you are advised to eliminate this application from your system.
Most adware is distributed on freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, or softonic.com. These websites employ small programs called 'installers' (also called 'download managers', 'download clients', etc.) to monetize their free services.
Installers offer installation of additional (according to the developers, '100% legitimate and virus-free') extensions or browser add-ons together with the chosen software. Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections.
To avoid this situation, closely examine each step when downloading free software and opt-out of any additionally-included apps.
Furthermore, when installing downloaded apps, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any bundled software listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you observe advertisements generated by gsave, follow these guidelines to eliminate this adware from your system.
