Current Weather Alert Adware

What is Current Weather Alert?
Created by JH Software Pvt. Ltd, the Current Weather Alert application claims to enable quick weather forecast monitoring. On initial inspection, this may seem legitimate and useful functionality, however, be aware that Current Weather Alert is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
The developers of this rogue extension employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install Current Weather Alert on computers without users' consent. Bundling is a way to stealthily distribute applications together with other software.
Therefore, most users inadvertently install Current Weather Alert when downloading free software from freeware download websites. Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome, Current Weather Alert delivers intrusive online advertisements, causes unwanted browser redirects, and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.
Advertisements generated by this PUP include pop-up, pop-under, search, and other similar ads that may lead to websites containing adult content. It is likely that clicking these advertisements will cause high-risk adware or malware infections.
Furthermore, users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since Current Weather Alert collects various software and hardware information such as IP addresses (to determine geographic locations of users), unique identifier numbers, search queries entered, URLs visited, pages viewed, cookies and other details that may be personally identifiable.
This information tracking may lead to serious privacy issues or identity theft. There are many adware-type applications similar to Current Weather Alert. Examples include Desktop Temperature Monitor, StormWatch, and Severe Weather Alerts among many others.
None of these applications are useful to the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by enforcing unwanted browser redirects, delivering intrusive online ads, and sharing collected information with third parties. For these reasons, you are strongly advised to eliminate Current Weather Alert from your Internet browsers.
At time of research, Current Weather Alert was mostly distributed via small download programs (called 'installers', 'download clients', 'download managers', etc.) on freeware download websites.
These programs are used to monetize the free services and traffic of websites such as download.com, softonic.com, and soft32.com by offering installation of advertised (according to the developers, '100% virus-free') browser extensions together with the chosen free software.
Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. This situation can be prevented by closely studying each step of the free software download procedure and clicking 'Decline' if installation of any additional applications is offered.
Furthermore, all software downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options - this will reveal any hidden applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them.
If you have already installed Current Weather Alert, and you experience intrusive online ads, read the following removal instructions to uninstall this adware from your system.
