Slick Savings Virus

What is Slick Savings?
The Slick Savings browser add-on displays various coupon and deals advertisements when users visit online shopping websites. Developed by 215 Apps (Innovative Apps), it is compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox.
While this added functionality (and potential to save money when shopping online) may seem legitimate, Slick Savings is categorized as adware.
Creators of this browser extension 'bundle' it together with free software, and therefore, most Internet users report that Slick Savings was installed on their computers without their consent. Furthermore, this add-on diminishes Internet browser performance and may case serious privacy issues.
Today, most free software download websites (such as download.com, soft32.com, etc.) employ 'download clients' to monetize their free software downloads. Download clients often promote free browser add-on (such as Slick Savings), and some use a deceptive user interface, which hides the 'decline' button.
Thus, computer users should be attentive when downloading free software. Slick Savings is not technically a computer virus or malware, however, it is a potentially unwanted application and should be eliminated from your Internet browsers.
Slick Savings is similar to other adware, which infiltrates browsers via free software downloads. Examples include FLV toolbar, iRobinHood, and Zombie Alert. These browser add-ons are promoted using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling'.
The best way to avoid installation of these potentially unwanted browser plugins is to inspect each installation step of any free software downloaded from the Internet. If your download is managed by a download client, look for the 'decline' button - this will allow you to skip installation of promoted applications (commonly, adware).
When installing freeware, ensure that you choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - doing so will reveal any bundled browser add-ons. If you observe coupon ads generated by Slick Savings (or Savings Slider), and wish to eliminate them, use the removal guide provided.
