Motitags Toolbar

What is Motitags toolbar?
The Motitags toolbar browser add-on was created by Mindspark Inc. and is compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. It claims to enhance users' Internet browsing experience by enabling smileys within popular email clients such as Gmail, Yahoo!, AOL, and Outlook Live.
While such added functionality may seem legitimate, Internet users should be aware that this browser plugin is categorized as a potentially unwanted application or adware, since it infiltrates browsers using a deceptive free software marketing method called 'bundling' and causes unwanted browser redirects to home.tb.ask.com
Furthermore, this potentially unwanted application tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording keyword queries, search query text, time of day, browser type, default language settings, IP address, and other information.
Computer users should be aware that, today, the majority of freeware download websites employ 'download clients' to monetize their free services. Download clients are small programs offering installation of advertised browser plug-ins together with the chosen free software.
Users who do not pay close enough attention to the download steps can inadvertently install the Motitags toolbar or other adware on their Internet browsers. At time of research, this toolbar was distributed using deceptive banner ads, which appear on various free software download websites.
Motitags is similar to other browser settings-changing adware, which infiltrates users' computers through free software downloads. Examples include ZenSearch.com, MySearchDial, and Awesomehp. Commonly, these browser extensions add no real value, diminish browser performance, and may lead to serious privacy issues or malware infections.
The Mindspark company has developed well over one hundred such potentially unwanted applications - here is a general removal guide explaining how to eliminate them. To avoid installation of such adware, Internet users should express caution when downloading and installing freeware.
Check every download step and decline installation of any advertised browser plug-ins. When installing downloaded free software, choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical' - this will reveal any intended installation of bundled browser plug-ins.
Computer users who have already installed the Motitags toolbar should use this removal guide to eliminate adware from their Internet browser/s.
