How to remove SyncAnalyser adware from the operating system
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What kind of application is SyncAnalyser?
Our research team found the SyncAnalyser app during a routine review of new submissions to VirusTotal. After examining this software, we determined that it is adware. SyncAnalyser is part of the AdLoad malware family. Advertising-supported software operates by delivering intrusive ad campaigns, and it can have other harmful abilities.
SyncAnalyser adware overview
Adware is designed to generate revenue for its developers. This is usually achieved through ads that the software places on various interfaces (e.g., visited websites, desktops, etc.). The advertisements can endorse online scams, unreliable/hazardous software, and even malware. Some can be triggered (by being clicked) to execute scripts that perform sneaky downloads/installations.
Remember that while legitimate products or services may be encountered via these adverts – they are unlikely to be promoted by any official parties. It is most probable that this promotion is undertaken by scammers who are motivated to obtain illegitimate commissions by abusing the endorsed content's affiliate programs.
Specific conditions may be necessary for advertising-supported software to run intrusive advertisement campaigns (e.g., compatible browser/system or user geolocation, visits to particular sites, etc.). Regardless of whether SyncAnalyser delivers ads – the application remains a threat to system and user safety.
While AdLoad adware-type apps often have browser hijacker qualities – we did not observe these functionalities during our analysis of SyncAnalyser.
Furthermore, this rogue application likely collects vulnerable information, as data-tracking abilities are standard for adware.
Information of interest can include: URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, usernames/passwords, Internet cookies, personally identifiable details, credit card numbers, and so forth. This sensitive data can be monetized through sale to third-parties.
In summary, advertising-supported software like SyncAnalyser may cause system infections, serious privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
StationSure, ClientGuide, and DiscoveryExemplary are merely a few examples of adware we have investigated recently. While this software tends to appear legitimate and offer various "handy" functionalities – it rarely operates as promised. Its features are usually just bait to trick users into downloading/installing.
However, even if an app or a browser extension works as indicated by its promotional material – that is not a guarantee of either legitimacy or safety.
How did SyncAnalyser install on my computer?
Adware is promoted on legitimate-looking download pages and scam websites. They are primarily accessed via redirects caused by sites using rogue advertising networks, intrusive ads, misspelled URLs, spam browser notifications, and installed adware (with the ability to force-open webpages).
"Bundling" – the marketing tactic that involves packing regular program installers with unwanted/malicious additions – is also used to distribute adware.
The threat of inadvertently allowing bundled content into the system is increased by downloading from dubious channels (e.g., freeware and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, etc.) and by treating installation processes with negligence (e.g., ignoring terms, skipping steps/sections, using "Easy/Quick" settings, etc.).
Additionally, advertising-supported software is proliferated by intrusive advertisements. Once clicked on, some of these adverts can execute scripts to perform downloads/installations without user consent.
How to avoid installation of adware?
It is important to research software prior to downloading or purchasing it. All downloads must be made from official and verified sources. When installing, we recommend reading terms, exploring possible options, using the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opting out of all additions (e.g., apps, extensions, tools, etc.).
We also advise vigilance when browsing since fake and malicious online content usually appears genuine and harmless. For example, intrusive ads may look innocuous – however, they redirect users to unreliable and questionable sites (e.g., gambling, pornography, scam-promoting, adult dating, etc.).
In case of continuous encounters with advertisements and/or redirects of this kind, inspect the device and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with SyncAnalyser, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
