How to eliminate the TrustedAnalyser adware-type app from your Mac
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What kind of application is TrustedAnalyser?
TrustedAnalyser is an adware-type app from the AdLoad malware family. The application operates by running intrusive advertisement campaigns, and it may have other harmful abilities. Our research team discovered TrustedAnalyser during a routine investigation of new file submissions to the VirusTotal platform.
TrustedAnalyser adware overview
Adware stands for advertising-supported software. It displays ads (e.g., pop-ups, coupons, overlays, etc.) on visited sites and/or other interfaces. The advertisements primarily promote scams, unreliable/harmful software, and even malware. Once clicked on, some intrusive ads can execute scripts to perform downloads/installations without user consent.
Keep in mind that while legitimate products or services may be encountered via these adverts – they are unlikely to be endorsed by any official parties. It is most probable that this endorsement is undertaken by scammers who abuse the content's affiliate programs to acquire illegitimate commissions.
Adware might need specific conditions to deliver intrusive advert campaigns (e.g., compatible browser/system, visits to particular websites, etc.). However, even if TrustedAnalyser does not display advertisements – its presence on a system endangers device and user safety.
We have found many instances of AdLoad apps with browser-hijacking functionalities, but we did not observe these qualities during our analysis of TrustedAnalyser.
This adware-type application likely has data-tracking abilities. Information of interest may include: visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, Internet cookies, log-in credentials (usernames/passwords), personally identifiable details, credit card numbers, and so on. The collected data can then be monetized via sale to third-parties.
To summarize, the presence of advertising-supported software like TrustedAnalyser on devices can lead to system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
We have examined numerous adware samples; Sighful.app, Skat.app, PlatformIndex – are just a couple of our newest finds. Software within this category usually appears legitimate and offers various functionalities. However, it seldom operates as promised, and in most cases – none of its features work.
It must be emphasized that even if an application or a browser extension operates as indicated by its promotional material – that is not a guarantee of legitimacy or safety.
How did TrustedAnalyser install on my computer?
The bundling marketing tactic – parking ordinary program installers with unwanted/malicious supplements – is used to distribute adware.
Downloading from untrustworthy sources (e.g., freeware and third-party websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, etc.) and treating installations with negligence (e.g., ignoring terms, using "Quick/Easy" settings, etc.) – increase the risk of unintentionally allowing bundled content into the system.
Furthermore, adware can have "official" promotional webpages, and it is endorsed on scam sites. Visitors to these pages can access them through redirects generated by websites using rogue advertising networks, mistyped URLs, intrusive ads, spam browser notifications, or installed adware (with the ability to force-open webpages).
Intrusive advertisements proliferate advertising-supported software as well. When clicked on, some of the adverts can execute scripts to download/install software sneakily.
How to avoid installation of adware?
We strongly recommend researching software and downloading only from official/verified channels. Additionally, installation processes must always be treated with caution. Hence, we advise reading terms, exploring possible options, using the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opting out of all supplementary apps, extensions, tools, etc.
Another recommendation is to be vigilant while browsing since fraudulent and dangerous online content usually appears legitimate and harmless. For example, intrusive ads may look innocuous – yet redirect to highly questionable websites (e.g., scam-promoting, pornography, adult dating, gambling, etc.).
In case of continuous encounters with such advertisements and/or redirects, check the system and immediately remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with TrustedAnalyser, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
