Removal instructions for the TableMarketTrust adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What kind of application is TableMarketTrust?
TableMarketTrust is an adware-type app discovered by our researchers during a routine inspection of new file submissions to the VirusTotal platform. This application is part of the AdLoad malware family. TableMarketTrust is designed to run intrusive advertisement campaigns, and it may have other harmful capabilities.
TableMarketTrust adware overview
Adware stands for advertising-supported software. It operates by displaying ads (e.g., pop-ups, coupons, banners, overlays, surveys, etc.) on visited websites and/or different interfaces.
These advertisements primarily promote online scams, unreliable/hazardous software, and potential malware. Some can even be triggered (i.e., by being clicked) to execute scripts that perform downloads/installations without user permission.
It is pertinent to mention that while legitimate products or services may be encountered through these adverts – they are unlikely to be endorsed in this fashion by any official parties. It is most probable that this endorsement is undertaken by scammers who abuse the content's affiliate programs to obtain illegitimate commissions.
Specific conditions may be necessary for adware to deliver intrusive advert campaigns (e.g., compatible browser/system or user geolocation, visits to particular sites, etc.). Regardless of whether TableMarketTrust displays ads – the app's presence on a system remains a threat to device/user safety.
We have found many instances of AdLoad applications exhibiting browser-hijacking abilities; however, we did not observe these qualities during our analysis of TableMarketTrust.
Advertising-supported software usually has data-tracking functionalities, and this might be true of TableMarketTrust. Information of interest may include: visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, Internet cookies, log-in credentials (usernames/passwords), personally identifiable details, credit card numbers, and so forth. The collected data can then be monetized through sale to third-parties.
To summarize, the presence of software like TableMarketTrust on devices may result in system infections, serious privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
PowerRemote, ResourceActivity, and VirtualDocument are just a couple examples of adware-type apps we have investigated recently.
Software within this category rarely appears illegitimate or otherwise suspicious; it tends to look ordinary and innocuous. Users may be enticed into downloading/installing adware by promises of various handy features. However, these functions seldom work as advertised, and in most cases – they do not work at all.
It must be stressed that even if a piece of software operates as indicated by its promotional material – that is not a guarantee of either legitimacy or safety.
How did TableMarketTrust install on my computer?
"Bundling" – packing regular program installation setups with unwanted/malicious supplements – is used to distribute adware. Downloading from dubious channels (e.g., freeware and third-party sites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, etc.) and rushing through installation processes (e.g., ignoring terms, using "Easy/Express" settings, etc.) – increase the threat of unintentionally permitting access for bundled content into the device.
Adware can also have "official" promotional webpages, and it is endorsed on scam sites. Most visitors to such pages enter them via redirects generated by websites using rogue advertising networks, misspelled URLs, spam browser notifications, intrusive adverts, or installed adware (with browser force-opening abilities).
Additionally, advertising-supported software is proliferated by intrusive ads. Some of these advertisements can execute scripts to perform stealthy downloads/installations upon being clicked.
How to avoid installation of adware?
We advise researching software and downloading only from official/trustworthy sources. Installation processes must be treated with caution. Therefore, we recommend reading terms, inspecting available options, using the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opting out of all additional apps, extensions, etc.
Another recommendation is to be vigilant while browsing since fake and malicious online content usually appears legitimate and harmless. For example, intrusive adverts may look innocuous – yet redirect to unreliable and questionable sites (e.g., gambling, pornography, scam-promoting, adult dating, etc.).
If you keep encountering ads and/or redirects of this kind, check the device and immediately remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with TableMarketTrust, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
