What kind of application is LogManager?
file submissions to the VirusTotal website. After inspecting this piece of software, we determined that it is adware belonging to the AdLoad malware family. LogManager operates by delivering intrusive ad campaigns.
LogManager adware overview
Adware stands for advertising-supported software. It displays advertisements (e.g., pop-ups, coupons, surveys, overlays, etc.) on various interfaces.
These adverts primarily promote online scams, untrustworthy/hazardous software, and potential malware. When clicked on, some of them can even execute scripts to perform downloads/installations without user permission.
Keep in mind that any genuine products/services encountered via these ads are most likely endorsed by scammers who abuse their affiliate programs in order to acquire illegitimate commissions.
Specific conditions may be required for adware to operate as designed (i.e., display adverts). However, regardless of whether LogManager does not display advertisements due to an incompatible browser/system, particular websites not being visited, or other unsuitable conditions – the app's presence remains a threat to device/user safety.
Additionally, AdLoad applications commonly have browser-hijacking functionalities. We did not observe these abilities while testing LogManager.
Furthermore, advertising-supported software usually spies on users' browsing activity and collects sensitive information; this might be true of LogManager.
Data of interest may include: visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, Internet cookies, account log-in credentials, personally identifiable details, credit card numbers, and so forth. This vulnerable information can then be sold to third-parties or otherwise abused for profit.
To summarize, software like LogManager may cause system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
We have analyzed countless adware samples; CompanyOperating, SkilledValue, and UpgradeIndex are just a few of our newest finds.
Advertising-supported software usually appears legitimate and offers "handy" features. These functionalities are typically fake and nonoperational – their purpose is to trick users into downloading/installing the software.
It must be stressed that the mere fact that an app/extension works as indicated by its promotional material – does not guarantee its legitimacy or safety.
How did LogManager install on my computer?
"Bundling" – packing regular program installation setups with unwanted/malicious supplements – is often used to distribute adware.
Bundled content is promoted through dubious download channels, such as freeware and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party sources. The risk of inadvertently allowing this content into the system is compounded by rushing through installation processes, e.g., ignoring terms, skipping steps/sections, using "Easy/Quick" settings, etc.
Furthermore, adware can have "official" download webpages, and it is endorsed on scam sites. Most visitors access these pages via redirects generated by websites that utilize advertising networks, mistyped URLs, intrusive ads, spam browser notifications, or installed adware (with webpage force-opening capabilities).
Advertising-supported software is also proliferated by intrusive advertisements. Once clicked on, some of these adverts can execute scripts to perform downloads/installations without user consent.
How to avoid installation of adware?
We highly recommend researching software and downloading it only from official/verified sources. Installation processes must be treated with caution, e.g., by reading terms, studying possible options, using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings, and opting out of all additional apps, extensions, tools, features, etc.
Another recommendation is to be careful while browsing since fake and malicious online content usually appears legitimate and innocuous. For example, while intrusive advertisements may look harmless – they redirect to unreliable and questionable sites (e.g., gambling, scam-promoting, pornography, adult dating, etc.).
In case of continuous encounters with such ads/redirects, check the system and immediately remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with LogManager, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
