Adware stands for advertising-supported software. It is designed to generate revenue for its developers by feeding users with undesirable ads. This third-party graphical content (e.g., pop-ups, overlays, banners, etc.) can be displayed on various interfaces.
The adverts endorse online scams, unreliable/hazardous software, and even malware. Once clicked on, some of the advertisements can execute scripts to perform downloads/installations without user consent.
It is noteworthy that legitimate products and services encountered via these ads are unlikely to be promoted by any official parties. It is most probable that this endorsement is performed by scammers who abuse the content's affiliate programs in order to acquire illegitimate commissions.
Advertising-supported software may require certain conditions to run intrusive advert campaigns (e.g., compatible browser/system or user geolocation, visits to specific websites, etc.). Even if RemoteManager does not display advertisements – its presence on a system threatens device and user safety.
AdLoad applications commonly have browser-hijacking qualities; however, RemoteManager did not exhibit these traits during testing.
Furthermore, this rogue app likely collects private information. Scan your Mac with Combo Cleaner:
