Adware in general
Adware is often promoted as legitimate, useful software (adware developers claim that their software has some useful features). Once installed, adware starts feeding users with annoying ads. Additionally, adware-type apps can be designed to collect data and hijack web browsers.
More adware examples are TextBoard, ObsessionScript, and VantageReservation.
How did PropCreative install on my computer?
Most apps like PropCreative are distributed by bundling them with other software, through pages designed to display deceptive content and various fake installers. Downloaders and installers containing adware have "Custom", "Advanced", "Manual", or other settings (or ticked checkboxes).
Users download or install adware after finishing downloads or installations without changing the settings mentioned above. It is worth mentioning that sometimes adware gets installed after clicking shady advertisements designed to run certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of unwanted applications?
Download applications from official sites (or use legitimate stores). Do not use third-party downloaders, unofficial pages, P2P networks, and similar sources to download apps or files. Also, do not click advertisements displayed on suspicious websites. Never agree to receive notifications from suspicious sites.
Deselect unwanted apps before downloading or installing programs (check downloaders and installers for optional downloads and installations). If your computer is already infected with PropCreative, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
