How to eliminate DeliteOutward adware from the operating system
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on
What is DeliteOutward?
DeliteOutward is a rogue app that our researchers found while checking out new submissions to VirusTotal. After analyzing this application, we discovered that it operates as advertising-supported software (adware) and belongs to the AdLoad malware family.
DeliteOutward adware overview
Adware displays advertisements on visited websites and/or other interfaces. These ads promote online scams, untrustworthy/harmful sites and software, and even malware. Additionally, some intrusive adverts are capable of stealthily downloading/installing software.
Note that any genuine products encountered via these advertisements are unlikely to be promoted by their developers. Instead, this promotion is undertaken by scammers abusing the products' affiliate programs to obtain illegitimate commissions.
It is pertinent to mention that advertising-supported software may require specific conditions to run intrusive advertisement campaigns (e.g., compatible browser/system or user geolocation, visits to particular websites, etc.). However, regardless of whether DeliteOutward displays ads - its presence on a system endangers device/user safety.
Furthermore, DeliteOutward may have other functionalities since they are common for AdLoad adware. This app might have browser hijacker abilities - however, we did not observe any during testing.
What is more, advertising-supported software typically collects private data. Targeted information can include: browsing and search engine histories, usernames/passwords, personally identifiable details, financial/banking data, etc. The gathered information is monetized via sale to third-parties (potentially, cyber criminals).
To summarize, the presence of software like DeliteOutward on devices can result in system infections, serious privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
We have analyzed thousands of applications within the adware category; PortalUltra, EmpireFocus, and HybridSpace are merely a few examples. Advertising-supported software typically appears legitimate and innocuous. Users are lured into download/installation with promises of "handy" features, which are usually nonoperational.
How did DeliteOutward install on my computer?
Adware is proliferated using the bundling method - packing ordinary program installers with unwanted/malicious additions. Download from untrustworthy channels (e.g., freeware and third-party sites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, etc.) and rushed installations (e.g., skipped steps and sections, etc.) increase the risk of permitting bundled content into the system.
Intrusive advertisements spread advertising-supported software as well. When clicked on, some of these adverts can execute scripts to make downloads/installations without user consent. Furthermore, fake Adobe Flash Player updaters/installers are used in distribution.
Adware is also endorsed through dubious download webpages and scam websites. Users typically enter sites of this kind via redirects caused by pages using rogue advertising networks, mistyped URLs, spam browser notifications, intrusive ads, or installed adware (with webpage force-opening capabilities).
How to avoid installation of adware?
We highly recommend researching software and downloading only from official and verified sources. Additionally, installation processes must be approached with caution, e.g., by reading terms, exploring possible options, using the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opting-out of all supplements.
We advise being vigilant when browsing since fraudulent and malicious content usually appears legitimate. For example, intrusive advertisements look harmless yet redirect to unreliable/questionable sites (e.g., pornography, adult-dating, gambling, etc.).
Should you experience adverts/redirects of this kind, inspect the system and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with DeliteOutward, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What harm can adware cause?
Adware endangers device integrity and user safety. This software decreases browsing quality and system performance. It is also considered to be a privacy threat since adware usually has data tracking functionalities. Additionally, the ads displayed by advertising-supported software promote deceptive/malicious content that can cause serious issues (e.g., system infections, financial losses, etc.).
What does adware do?
Adware is designed to enable the placement of advertisements on visited websites and/or other interfaces. Some types can also force-open webpages and gather private data.
How do adware developers generate revenue?
Adware developers generate most of the profit through affiliate programs by endorsing various websites, applications, products, services, and so forth.
Will Combo Cleaner remove DeliteOutward adware?
Yes, Combo Cleaner can scan systems and eliminate detected adware-type apps. Note that manual removal (unaided by security programs) might not be ideal. In some cases, even after the software itself has been (manually) removed - various components (files) remain hidden within the system. What is more, such remnants may continue running and causing problems. Hence, it is crucial to eliminate advertising-supported software thoroughly.
