Removal instructions for PremiumLatest adware and the adverts it displays
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is PremiumLatest?
While checking out new submissions on VirusTotal, our researchers found the PremiumLatest application. After analyzing it on our test system, we have determined that it is an advertising-supported software (adware). PremiumLatest also belongs to the AdLoad malware family.
PremiumLatest adware overview
Adware may require specific requirements to be met in order to run intrusive advertisement campaigns (i.e., deliver ads on visited websites and/or other interfaces). For example, advertising-supported software may need the device/browser specs to be compatible, particular geolocation, specific websites to be visited, etc.
On our test machine, PremiumLatest displayed adverts, but it might not on others. Regardless, the presence of adware on systems endangers their integrity and user safety.
Adware-delivered advertisements promote scams, untrustworthy/harmful software, and even malware. Some intrusive ads can be triggered (by being clicked) to download/install software stealthily. Any legitimate products encountered through these adverts are unlikely to be promoted like this by their developers. Ads of this type are usually used by scammers abusing affiliate programs to acquire illegitimate commissions.
What is more, PremiumLatest may have browser hijacker abilities as they are typical for AdLoad adware. This app may also have data tracking abilities. Adware typically collects (and sells) browsing data, personally identifiable details, finance-related information, and similar.
To summarize, the presence of software like PremiumLatest on devices can result in system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
We have analyzed thousands of adware samples; CheckControl, NodeStatisticsProjector, and NetworkStructured are merely a few examples. This software usually appears legitimate and offers "handy" features, which are seldom operational. Therefore, adware is not only useless, but it also endangers device and user safety.
How did PremiumLatest install on my computer?
Adware is proliferated using various dubious distribution techniques. Program bundling (packing installers with unwanted/malicious additions) is used to spread advertising-supported software. Download from untrustworthy sources (e.g., unofficial and freeware websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, etc.) and rushed installations - increase the risk of allowing bundled content into the system.
When clicked on, intrusive advertisements can execute scripts to download/install software (e.g., adware) without user permission.
Adware can also have "official" promotional/download webpages, which are seldom accessed intentionally. Such sites can be entered through mistyped URLs or redirects caused by pages using rogue advertising networks, spam browser notifications, intrusive ads, or they can be force-opened by an adware-affected browser.
How to avoid installation of adware?
Caution is key to computer safety. We strongly advise researching software and downloading it from official/verified sources. Download/Installation processes must be approached with care. Therefore, we recommend reading terms, studying possible options, using the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opting-out of all additions.
Another important recommendation is exercising caution when browsing - since illegitimate and malicious content usually looks harmless. For example, intrusive adverts appear legitimate, yet they redirect to questionable websites (e.g., gambling, adult-dating, pornography, etc.).
If you experience such ads/redirects, inspect your device and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with PremiumLatest, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
