How to remove app that open richinfo.co and similar sites
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is richinfo[.]co?
Users do not often visit websites such as richinfo[.]co intentionally - they are opened by browsers that have potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) installed on them. Some more examples of web pages that are similar to richinfo[.]co are veadoles[.]online, cenesserie[.]fun, and indexspotcaptcha[.]com.
PUAs open dubious web pages, serve advertisements, and gather various data.
Once opened, web pages such as richinfo[.]co open two or three other bogus sites, or load dubious content. This depends on the geolocations of their visitors.
These pages often trick visitors into clicking the "Allow" button, which allows the opened page to show notifications. In most cases, pages such as richinfo[.]co display notifications that contain dubious advertisements, links to untrusted web pages, etc.
As mentioned, PUAs can also generate advertisements. They usually serve coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups and others. If clicked, these can open untrusted websites and, in some cases, run certain scripts that download and install of unwanted applications.
PUAs also gather data. For example, IP addresses, addresses of visited websites, entered search queries, geolocations and other details. Some PUAs are capable of accessing personal, sensitive data as well. The data is monetized by selling it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or misused to generate revenue in other ways.
Therefore, users who have PUAs installed on their browsers and/or computers might encounter problems relating to online privacy, browsing safety, or they might even become victims of identity theft.

There are many apps that are categorized as potentially unwanted applications. They are often advertised as useful and supposedly include various features, provide quick access to certain websites, improve the browsing experience, etc. In fact, most are designed only to promote dubious websites, serve ads, and gather information.
These apps are useless to regular users and can cause serious issues.
How did adware install on my computer?
Users sometimes inadvertently download and install unwanted apps via deceptive advertisements - they click ads that cause unwanted download/installations by executing certain scripts.
Unwanted downloads and installations also occur during download/installation of other programs. I.e., when PUAs are included into the set-ups as 'extra offers'. This PUA distribution method of PUAs is called "bundling".
Typically, offers to download and install these additional apps can be declined via "Custom", "Advanced" or other settings, or by unticking certain checkboxes within the set-ups. When users download and install programs without making these checks and changes, they often allow PUAs to infiltrate.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download software and files from official websites and via direct links. It is not safe to use torrent clients, eMule (or other Peer-to-Peer networks), third party downloaders, unofficial websites or other sources of this kind.
Avoid third party installers. Check "Advanced", "Custom" and other settings, and decline offers to download or install unwanted software. Do not click ads that are displayed on dubious websites, since they can open other untrusted websites or even cause unwanted downloads and installations.
Remove any unwanted, suspicious applications (extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins) that are installed on the browser. The same should be applied to programs of this kind that are installed on the operating system.
Regularly scan your computer with reputable antivirus or anti-spyware software and keep this software up to date.
If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
