How redirects to and from sferverification.com

What is sferverification[.]com?
sferverification[.]com is a rogue website, sharing many similarities with gotrack2.es, securegate.xyz, luckypushwinner.com, hipermovies.icu and thousands of others. Visitors to this page are presented with dubious material and/or are redirected to other dubious and possibly malicious sites.
Most users enter sferverification[.]com inadvertently - they are redirected to it by intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already infiltrated into the system. This software does not need express user permission to be installed into devices. PUAs cause redirects, deliver intrusive ad campaigns and track browsing activity.
The behavior of sferverification[.]com is determined by visitors' geolocations. The web page learns this information by checking users' IP addresses. I.e., whether visitors are redirected elsewhere and/or presented with dubious content depends on their geolocations.
Additionally, sferverification[.]com uses deceptive tactics to trick users into enabling its browser notifications: "Click Allow if you are not a robot". Should the notifications be enabled, sferverification[.]com begins running intrusive ad campaigns. As well as being an annoyance, the delivered ads can also be harmful.
When they are clicked, intrusive advertisements often redirect to various untrusted/malicious sites and some can even stealthily download/install rogue software (e.g. PUAs). These unwanted apps can force-open dubious web pages and run intrusive ad campaigns.
Furthermore, most PUAs have data tracking capabilities. They can record browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather personal information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). The data is then shared with and/or sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals), likewise intent on misusing it for financial gain.
To summarize, the presence of unwanted software on devices can lead to system infections, financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft. To ensure device and user safety, all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be eliminated immediately upon detection.

PUAs often seem legitimate and innocuous, offering various "useful" functions. Despite how good the features may sound, they rarely work as advertised and, in most cases, do not work at all. The only purpose of PUAs is to generate revenue for the developers.
Rather than delivering any real value, they can run intrusive advertisement campaigns, cause redirects and collect private information.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs are often downloaded/installed with other software. This deceptive marketing method of packing regular products with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling". Rushing download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps, using pre-set options, etc.) increases the risk of unintentionally allowing bundled content into the system.
Some PUAs have "official" promotional sites from which they can be downloaded. Intrusive ads proliferate these applications as well. When clicked, they can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' consent.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to research all products to verify their legitimacy, prior to download/installation and/or purchase. All downloads must be done from official and verified sources. Untrusted download channels such as unofficial and free file-hosting websites, P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders commonly offer bundled content.
When downloading/installing, it is important to read the terms, study all available options, use the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings and opt-out of additional apps, tools, features, and so on. Intrusive advertisements may seem normal and harmless, however, they can redirect to dubious web pages (e.g. gambling, adult-dating, pornography, and others).
If you encounter these ads or redirects, inspect your devices and immediately remove all dubious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins from them. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
