How to uninstall apps that open fast-push.com and similar web pages

Also Known As: Ads by fast-push.com
Damage level: Medium

What is fast-push[.]com?

fast-push[.]com is one of many untrustworthy websites designed to open a number of other sites of this kind or load dubious content. It is similar to mediatop[.]me, alldaystream[.]club, 0sntp7dnrr[.]com and many others. These sites are generally opened by browsers with potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) installed on them.

I.e., people do not visit them intentionally. Note that most PUAs gather browsing-related information and display various advertisements.

fast-push[.]com pop-up redirects

Typically, PUAs open web pages such as fast-push[.]com in new browser windows or tabs. When visited, they load dubious content and demand permission to show notifications, or redirect visitors to a number (about two or three) other untrusted websites.

These actions depend on visitors' geolocations. Sites such as fast-push[.]com often trick visitors into allowing them to show notifications using 'clickbait' techniques. This particular web page suggests that, to watch a video, visitors must click the "Allow" button.

If allowed, websites such as fast-push[.]com start to display notifications that contain links to other untrusted pages, deceptive advertisements and dubious content. Therefore, never give permission for these sites to show notifications. Furthermore, PUAs often serve intrusive ads such as coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups and others.

In most cases, if clicked, these open untrusted, deceptive pages or execute scripts that download or install unwanted software. PUAs often operate as information tracking tools that collect details such as IP addresses, URLs of visited pages, entered search queries, geolocations and other browsing data.

Some PUAs target sensitive information as well. Developers sell the data to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue in other ways.

PUAs can thus cause problems relating to browsing safety, privacy, and some people might even become victims of identity theft. If PUAs are installed on the browser or operating system, remove them immediately.

PUAs are commonly advertised as legitimate, useful applications that supposedly deliver various features or other value, however, few operate as promised. They are useless and designed only to generate revenue for the developers. Furthermore, users are exposed to risk of serious problems.

How did adware install on my computer?

In some cases, PUAs can be downloaded from their websites, however, people more often download and install them inadvertently. PUAs are distributed by including them into the download/installation set-ups of other programs. This distribution method is called "bundling".

Developers use it to trick people into downloading and installing PUAs together with other, regular software. Typically, offers to download and install potentially unwanted apps can be found in "Custom" and "Advanced" settings, however, many people leave these unchanged, thereby agreeing by default with offers to download and install additionally-included apps.

Advertisements can also cause unwanted downloads and installations when they execute certain scripts.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

All software and files should be downloaded from official websites and through direct links. Other sources and channels such as Peer-to-Peer networks (eMule, torrent clients), unofficial web pages, various third party downloaders, installers etc., should not be used.

Check all settings such as "Advanced", "Manual, and "Custom" and dismiss offers to download or install unwanted apps before completing the process. Intrusive ads that appear on dubious pages should not be trusted or clicked - they can open untrusted web pages or cause download/installation of unwanted applications.

Remove any unwanted, unknown or suspicious apps (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins) installed on the browser. Also remove software of this kind that is installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
