How to stop browsers from opening qqs7.xyz
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is qqs7.xyz?
qqs7.xyz is the address of a fake search engine, which is promoted through a potentially unwanted application (PUA) called APP (in fact, it is likely that developers also promote qqs7.xyz via other rogue applications). This PUA is related to another app of this type called QIP.
Both are categorized as browser hijackers. These apps typically promote fake search engines by changing browser settings and gathering user information, however, research shows that this particular PUA (APP) does not change any settings.
In most cases, browser hijackers change settings such as the default search engine, homepage, and new tab URL. In this case, APP sometimes assigns them to qqs7.xyz. Even if it does not change them, users are still redirected to qqs7.xyz when they enter a search query into the URL bar and search engine (such as Google, Yahoo, and so on).
Note that qqs7.xyz is opened through another dubious address, searchxp.xyz. Search engines such as qqs7.xyz often display false results or ads that lead to deceptive, untrustworthy, potentially websites. To avoid being redirected to qqs7.xyz, searchxp.xyz and provided with false results, you must uninstall the APP application.
Furthermore, PUAs of this type often collect system information relating to users' browsing habits. For example, IP addresses, entered search queries, addresses of visited websites, geolocations, etc. Private, sensitive details might also be recorded. In any case, developers usually share the data with third parties, potentially cyber criminals.
Both parties misuse the information to generate revenue. People who have browser hijackers installed on their browsers and/or operating systems risk becoming victims of identity theft and experiencing problems relating to privacy, browsing safety, and so on. We recommend that you remove/uninstall all PUAs immediately and avoid installing them in the future.

Some examples of other PUAs that are categorized as browser hijackers include Search Selector, Get Breaking News, and Better Converter Pro.
In most cases, they help developers to generate revenue by promoting fake search engines and collecting data. They provide no value for regular users. People who use these apps often experience problems. Browser hijackers and other apps that are classified as PUAs should never be trusted.
How did APP install on my computer?
PUAs can sometimes be downloaded from their websites, however, most people download and install them unintentionally when they click intrusive (deceptive) advertisements or when developers distribute PUAs using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling".
They use this method to trick people into downloading and/or installing unwanted apps together with regular software.
To achieve this, developers include PUAs in various download/installation set-ups and hide related information in "Custom", "Manual", "Advanced" and other settings. These unwanted installations will only occur, however, if users fail to check and change the settings.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Software should be downloaded from official pages and via direct download links. Third party downloaders, installers, unofficial websites, Peer-to-Peer networks (torrent clients, eMule, etc.) and other similar sources/tools should not be trusted - they are often monetized when used to distribute unwanted or even malicious apps.
Check all settings available in download or installation setups and decline offers to download or install any additionally-included apps. If clicked, most intrusive advertisements open dubious websites or execute scripts that download or install PUAs. Do not click these ads.
Remove any unwanted or suspicious extensions, add-ons, or plug-ins installed on the browser installed immediately. The same applies to software of this kind installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with APP, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
