How to uninstall ExpandedService adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is ExpandedService?
ExpandedService supposedly helps users to easily browse the web, however, this app is classified as adware. Adware-type programs enable developers to generate revenue by feeding regular users with unwanted ads. Furthermore, adware might also record user-system information.
In most cases, people download and install adware unintentionally and, for this reason, these apps are classed as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
Apps such as ExpandedService serve intrusive ads such as coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, and others. If clicked, these often lead to untrustworthy, deceptive web pages or run scripts that download or install other unwanted applications.
Many adware-type apps collect details relating to users including, for example, IP addresses, URLs of visited pages, entered search queries, geolocations, etc.
Some of the data might contain sensitive information. Adware developers might share the details with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals). To avoid problems relating to browsing safety, privacy, etc., uninstall ExpandedService and all other adware immediately.

ExpandedService is similar to a number of other adware-type applications. Some examples are ForBrowser, CoverOpen, and WindowGroup. These apps are supposedly useful, however, they deliver no real value and are designed only to help developers to generate revenue. Do not trust any apps that are categorized as adware.
How did ExpandedService install on my computer?
Typically, people download and install unwanted apps unintentionally when they are included into the set-ups of other software. Information about additional downloads/installations is not properly disclosed and hidden in "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar settings of download or installation set-ups.
Furthermore, many people do not check these settings, thereby allowing PUAs to be downloaded and installed with other programs. In other cases, unwanted downloads/installations happen through deceptive advertisements. When clicked, these run scripts designed to download and install potentially unwanted apps.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Do not download or install software using dubious web pages, third party downloaders, installers torrent clients, eMule (or other Peer-to-Peer networks), and so on. Download from official and trustworthy websites. Check all settings such as "Custom" and "Advanced" available in the set-ups and deselect offers to download or install additionally-included, unwanted programs.
Do not click intrusive ads or trust them, especially if they are displayed on dubious websites. For example, on web pages relating to gambling, adult dating, etc. If the browser continually causes unwanted redirects or displays ads, unwanted applications might be installed on it.
Remove all suspicious, unknown plug-ins, extensions, and add-ons from the web browser and suspicious programs from the operating system immediately. If your computer is already infected with ExpandedService, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
