How to avoid installation of ResultsValue adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is ResultsValue?
ResultsValue is a potentially unwanted application (PUA) that functions as adware. When installed, it displays unwanted advertisements. PUAs also collect information relating to users' browsing habits. People generally tricked into downloading and installing PUAs. Therefore, we recommend that you uninstall ResultsValue and other adware immediately.
ResultsValue supposedly allows more efficient searches, however, people who have it installed on their systems are forced to see unwanted ads. Generally, adware-type apps feed users with coupons, banners, surveys, pop-up ads, and so on. If clicked, these lead to untrustworthy websites and, in some cases, run scripts that cause unwanted download/installation of PUAs.
Some of the ads might also be used to proliferate malware. Furthermore, PUAs are used by developers to generate revenue. They gather details such as users' IP addresses, entered search queries, URLs of visited websites, geolocations, etc. They might also record sensitive details.
In any case, adware developers share the information with other parties (potentially cyber criminals) who misuse private data to generate revenue. Adware-type applications can cause problems relating to browsing safety, privacy, and so on. Cyber criminals might also use these apps to steal identities. We strongly recommend that you uninstall all adware immediately.

All of these apps supposedly enhance the browsing experience, however, they provide no real value and simply display ads and/or gather information.
How did ResultsValue install on my computer?
In most cases, people download and install PUAs/adware through intrusive advertisements that they click or when software developers use a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". I.e., they include unwanted apps in the download or installation set-ups of regular software and hide related information in settings such as "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar sections.
Furthermore, many people unintentionally cause unwanted downloads/installations when they leave these settings unchecked and unchanged. By leaving default settings unchanged, they give PUAs permission to be downloaded and installed with regular software by default.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Download/install software from official, trustworthy websites and using direct download links. The same applies to files. Do not use third party downloaders/installers, Peer-to-Peer networks such as torrent clients, eMule, or other similar channels. Do not to leave settings of download or installation set-ups unchecked.
Dismiss any offers to download or install additional software before finishing the download or installation process. Do not click intrusive ads, since they can open dubious (potentially, malicious websites). Typically, these ads are displayed on web pages relating to gambling, adult dating, pornography, and so on.
To stop the browser from opening untrustworthy websites and/or showing intrusive advertisements, uninstall all unwanted programs (such as adware) installed on the computer. The same applies to apps (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins) of this type installed on the browser.
If your computer is already infected with ResultsValue, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
