Uninstall ApplicationEvents adware from your computer
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is ApplicationEvents?
ApplicationEvents is an application designed to help users browse more efficiently by providing fast searches, accurate search results, and so on. In fact, this software is categorized as adware. Adware-type apps usually display unwanted, intrusive ads and often collect details relating to users. Generally, people download and install apps of this type unintentionally.
If installed, adware displays coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, and other ads. These can be extremely annoying and, if clicked, open untrustworthy websites or download and install other unwanted apps. Websites opened through adware are often deceptive, untrustworthy and used to proliferate malicious software.
Furthermore, adware can be used to gather various details such as users' IP addresses, list of entered search queries, visited websites, geolocations, and other, potentially sensitive data. Adware developers often share the information with other parties, potentially cyber criminals, who misuse it to generate revenue.
People who have adware installed on their computers or browsers might become victims of identity theft, tricked into download/installation of dubious apps, experience problems relating to privacy, browsing safety, and so on. For these reasons, all adware should be removed from the system/browser immediately.

ApplicationEvents is a part of an adware family that includes a number of other adware-type apps including StudyDisplay, AssistEngine, and MatchKnowledge.
Do not trust apps categorized as adware. Typically, developers advertise them as 'useful and legitimate' applications, however, most do not operate as promised and provide no real value. On the contrary, they simply cause problems.
How did ApplicationEvents install on my computer?
It is sometimes possible to download and/or install adware and other unwanted software intentionally, however, most are distributed via a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". Therefore, people generally download and install apps of this type inadvertently.
Developers who use bundling include unwanted apps the in set-ups of other, usually free, programs. Additionally, they do not disclose information about additionally-included apps properly and hide them in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings of the download/installation set-ups.
They succeed when people download and install programs without checking and changing these settings.
Leaving them unchanged grants permission for unwanted software to be downloaded/installed with other regular software. Additionally, unwanted downloads/installations can be caused through intrusive ads that, if clicked, execute scripts designed to download/install unwanted apps.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Do not download or install software or files via third party downloaders, installers, using torrents clients, eMule or other Peer-to-Peer networks, unofficial pages, and so on. The best and safest way to download is using official websites and direct download links.
Do not ignore "Custom", "Advanced" or other similar settings included in set-ups. They often contain offers to download or install additional software that should be dismissed. Do not click intrusive advertisements, especially on dubious websites. These often ads redirect people to untrustworthy websites and, in some cases, cause unwanted downloads/installations.
Unwanted redirects and ads can often be prevented by removing suspicious, unwanted extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins installed on the browser, and software of this type installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with ApplicationEvents, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
