Stop redirects to searchberry.co

What is searchberry.co?
searchberry.co is the web address of a fake search engine, however, developers present it as a legitimate and useful search tool. Typically, search engines of this kind are promoted through browser hijackers (in this case, the Searchberry Home Page app).
This app promotes searchberry.co by changing browser settings. Additionally, browser hijackers and fake search engines often record data. Browser hijackers are also termed potentially unwanted applications (PUAs), since most users download and install them inadvertently.
Apps such as Searchberry Home Page can be installed on more than one browser. Developers target browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. When Searchberry Home Page is installed, it assigns the homepage, default search engine, and new tab URL to searchberry.co.
Generally, the only way to undo or change settings appointed by browser hijackers is to uninstall these rogue apps. Otherwise, users are forced to visit a specific site (in this case, searchberry.co) when they open a browser, new tab, or enter search queries into the URL bar.
Note also that searchberry.co generates no unique results. When a search query is entered into the search bar, searchberry.com redirects users to google.com. Therefore, searchberry.co displays results derived from the Google search engine.
Furthermore, searchberry.co and Searchberry Home Page collect data relating to users' browsing habits such as IP addresses, URLs of visited sites, entered search queries, geolocations, and so on. Developers share the information with other parties who misuse it to generate revenue.
Some of these third parties might include cyber criminals. To avoid becoming a victim of identity theft or experiencing browsing safety/privacy issues, or other problems, uninstall Searchberry Home Page immediately.

Searchberry Home Page is similar to other apps of this type such as Directions and Maps Plus, World Time News, Maps Directions Home, and so on. These apps supposedly provide useful features, however, they deliver no real value and simply cause problems.
Browser hijackers and fake search engines should never be trusted or used. Examples of other fake search engines are fastmailtab.com and freehdsearch.com.
How did Searchberry Home Page install on my computer?
Developers promote the Searchberry Home Pagthee app using "bundling" method - PUAs are included in the download/installation set-ups of other programs. Related information is usually concealed in options such as "Custom", "Advanced", and so on.
Furthermore, many people fail to check these settings, and thus developers place information regarding additionally-included apps in these sections.
If the settings remain unchecked and unchanged, PUAs are granted permission to be downloaded and installed with other software. Additionally, unwanted downloads and installations can be caused through intrusive ads. If clicked, some run scripts that download and install unwanted programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Software should be downloaded from official and trustworthy sources (websites), and not third party downloaders, Peer-to-Peer networks (such as torrent clients, eMule, or other similar programs), dubious pages, etc. Check "Custom", "Advanced" and other settings of any download or installation setup.
Dismiss any additional installations or downloads. Many advertisements are rogue, especially those displayed on untrustworthy websites (relating to gambling, pornography, adult dating, and so on). Typically, browsers are forced to cause redirects to dubious websites or show unwanted ads by potentially unwanted apps.
To stop this, remove all unknown, unwanted or suspicious extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons from the browser and to uninstall programs of this type from the computer. If your computer is already infected with Searchberry Home Page, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
