Avoid unwanted redirects caused by Kissanime
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Kissanime?
The Kissanime website provides free online anime videos, which can be viewed on mobile and desktop devices. It is also possible to download them in various formats and provide different viewing experiences. Note, however, that this is an untrustworthy site that uses rogue advertising networks.
Therefore, it contains dubious ads that lead to rogue, deceptive websites. Do NOT visit this site or use its services. Note also that Kissanime offers downloads illegally.
Using Kissanime's search facility or clicking links or ads displayed on it causes redirects to other dubious websites. One example is a deceptive website claiming that the visitor's computer is infected with malicious software and offering removal of it with a rogue tool. Therefore, this is effectively a scam site that deceptively promotes an untrustworthy application.
Note, however, that Kissanime might also lead to other dubious sites such as those associated with adult dating, gambling, pornography, and so on. Furthermore, this website contains dubious ads that can lead to rogue sites or cause download/installation of unwanted software, including adware, browser hijackers, and so on.
Using services provided by Kissanime is unsafe, as is clicking ads displayed on the site. Additionally, people who visit this website are asked for permission to show notifications.
Typically, if these sites are granted permission, they start feeding users with irrelevant, unwanted notifications, advertisements, and so on. If clicked, they also lead to untrustworthy sites. To avoid unwanted downloads, redirects to dubious sites, and other problems, we recommend that you avoid Kissanime and all similar websites.

Kissanime is very similar to another site called Kissmanga. Note that there are many other sites of this type online.
Typically, they are filled with ads that lead to dubious websites, and the links displayed on them also cause unwanted redirects. If a browser causes unwanted redirects or displays ads automatically, it has probably been infiltrated by a potentially unwanted app (PUA).
How did adware install on my computer?
Most users download and install PUAs unintentionally through ads that, once clicked, execute scripts designed to download rogue apps or when software developers use a marketing method called "bundling". They use bundling to include PUAs into set-ups of other software and hope that this will go unnoticed.
They hide PUAs in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings of various download/installation set-ups and do not disclose this information properly. This makes it easier to trick users into downloading and installing PUAs with other programs. Furthermore, many people do not check the settings, thus granting permission for PUAs to be downloaded and installed.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
You are advised to download software from trustworthy, official websites and via direct links. Third party software downloaders, Peer-to-Peer networks (such as torrent clients, Mule), unofficial sites and other channels of this kind should not be trusted. Check all settings such as "Advanced" and "Custom" while installing or downloading software, especially if it is free.
If a setup contains unwanted apps, deselect them before completion. Avoid visiting dubious sites and clicking ads on them. These ads lead to potentially malicious pages or trigger unwanted downloads/installations.
If a browser displays ads that lead to dubious websites (i.e., adult dating, gambling, pornography, or others) or it simply opens them without having to click anything, check if the browser is infiltrated with unknown/unwanted extensions, plug-ins, or add-ons. If any unwanted apps are installed, remove them immediately.
The same applies to unknown programs installed on the computer. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
