Knowwoow.com POP-UP Ads

What is knowwoow[.]com?
knowwoow[.]com is a rogue website designed to deliver dubious content and redirect users to other rogue sites. It is very similar to tinhowsinutha.pro, androponhowrow.info, feenotifyfriends.info, and hundreds of other untrustworthy sites.
As with these examples, many users visit knowwoow[.]com inadvertently - they are redirected by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) and intrusive ads displayed on various dubious sites. PUAs are notorious for infiltrating computers without users' consent. These applications cause unwanted redirects, generate advertisements, and record sensitive data.
After successful infiltration, PUAs start force-opening new browser tabs/windows and redirecting users to knowwoow[.]com. This site determines the visitor's geolocation (by checking the IP address) and displays certain content, or redirects users further accordingly. In any case, users might encounter malicious content (delivered by other rogue websites or knowwoow[.]com itself).
Therefore, visiting this site can lead to various system infections. The same applies to intrusive ads. Unwanted applications deliver coupons, banners, pop-ups, and other intrusive ads that often redirect to malicious sites and sometimes even run scripts designed to download and install other potentially unwanted/malicious applications.
Therefore, clicking them can also lead to computer infections. These ads are usually delivered via tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, they often conceal underlying content, thereby significantly diminishing the browsing experience.
Potentially unwanted applications are also likely to record information such as IP addresses, search queries, website URLs visited, pages viewed, and other similar information relating to browsing habits. Collected data usually includes personal details that PUA developers often sell to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals).
These people misuse private information to generate even more revenue. Therefore, having data-tracking apps installed on your computer might lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You should eliminate all potentially unwanted applications immediately.

There are hundreds of potentially unwanted applications, all of which are very similar. By offering various "useful features", these applications attempt to give the impression of legitimacy and trick users to install. PUAs have just one purpose: to generate revenue for the developers.
They deliver no real value for regular users. PUAs cause unwanted redirects, deliver advertisements, and gather information. In doing so, they significantly diminish the browsing experience and pose a significant threat to your privacy/computer safety.
How did adware install on my computer?
Some potentially unwanted applications have official websites, however, most are proliferated as using the aforementioned intrusive advertisements and a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" - stealth installation of third party applications together with regular software.
Developers hide "bundled" apps behind "Custom/Advanced" settings (or other sections) of the download/installation processes. In addition, many users often rush these procedures, skip steps, and click advertisements without understanding the possible consequences.
This behavior often leads to inadvertent installation of potentially unwanted applications - users expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Pay close attention when browsing the Internet and downloading/installing software. Analyze each download/installation step using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings. Decline offers to download/install additional applications and opt-out of those already included. Download software from official sources only, using direct download links.
Avoid using third party downloaders/installers, since most are monetized using the "bundling" method. Intrusive advertisements often seem legitimate, however, they often lead to dubious websites (gambling, adult dating, pornography, etc.), If you experience these ads/redirects, remove all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins.
The key to computer safety is caution. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
