Uniquecaptcha.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is uniquecaptcha.com?
uniquecaptcha.com is a rogue website virtually identical concreasun.info, chromext.club, omumultation.club, and many others. As with these examples, uniquecaptcha.com also causes redirects to rogue websites and delivers dubious content.
Most visitors arrive at uniquecaptcha.com inadvertently - they are redirected by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) or intrusive ads displayed on other rogue sites. PUAs usually infiltrate computers without users’ permission. As well as causing redirects, they deliver advertisements and record user-system information relating to browsing activity.
Potentially unwanted applications force-open new browser tabs/windows and redirect users to uniquecaptcha.com. Once visited, uniquecaptcha.com checks the victim's IP address to determine the geo-location and displays certain content or causes several additional redirects accordingly. In any case, users might end up encountering malicious content.
Therefore, redirects to and from uniquecaptcha.com can lead to various computer infections. PUAs are also designed to deliver advertisements, such as coupons, banners, pop-ups, and so on. These are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site.
Therefore, most conceal underlying content, significantly diminishing the browsing experience. Furthermore, intrusive ads can also redirect to infectious websites and run scripts designed to download other PUAs (or even high-risk malware). Thus, even a single accidental click might result in high-risk computer infections.
Potentially unwanted applications are also notorious for information tracking. These apps usually gather IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, queries entered into search engines, geo-locations, keystrokes, and other information that usually includes personal details.
Developers share the information with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who generate revenue by misusing private data. Therefore, information tracking can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. For these reasons, you should uninstall all potentially unwanted applications immediately.

There are hundreds of PUAs that have very similar characteristics. Most offer useful features, however, these claims are merely attempts to give the impression of legitimacy.
Few unwanted apps provide the functions promised and most deliver no real value for regular users, since their only purpose is to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than enabling the functions promised, PUAs cause unwanted redirects, deliver ads, and record information.
How did adware install on my computer?
As mentioned above, potentially unwanted applications usually infiltrate computers without users’ permission, since developers promote them using "bundling" and intrusive advertising methods. "Bundling" is essentially stealth installation of third party applications together with regular software.
Developers hide "bundled" apps within "Custom/Advanced" settings or other sections of the download/installation processes. Furthermore, many users often rush these procedures, skip steps, and click intrusive advertisements.
This behavior often leads to inadvertent installation of third party apps - users expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent system infiltration by PUAs, be very cautious when downloading/installing software and browsing the internet. Select "Custom/Advanced" settings and carefully analyze each window of the download/installation dialogs. Opt-out of additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them.
Avoid using third party download/installation tools, since developers often monetize them by promoting ("bundling") apps. Software should be downloaded from official sources only, using direct download links.
Bear in mind that intrusive ads usually seem legitimate, however, once clicked, they can redirect to dubious websites (gambling, adult dating, pornography, survey, etc.).
If you experience these ads, eliminate all dubious applications and browser plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
